Seven months ago I had to change my mother's terminal Alzheimer's disease residence, then I met Senior San Juan, I was full of prejudices, of previous experiences, my mother had been trapped by this scoundrel disease for fifteen years (and excluding a minority of professionals), the two institutions where she was previously were only a source of continuous frustrations. Amparo and his team. They restored my faith, (behind their professional facade, they showed me their humanity) and in these final moments of my mother, she was never treated so dignifiedly, (I wish I had met them before) and when the inevitable happened, they helped me and I felt their solidarity, THANK YOU ALL. Lastly, I want to send a message of support to the families of Alzheimer's patients and do not forget that although they do not know who we are, we do know who they were.

We admitted my mother to the San Juan residence. My mother didn't like it from the beginning, she said they treated her like a rag. My mother was 96 years old, totally dependent, but not dementia. They put her in the insane ward! And they said it was to control her better. I told them to put her with the others. They told me that they did it that way, but I don't know...they wouldn't let me in. I could go visit her every day, during a very strict schedule, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. They took her to reception in a wheelchair and with her coat on, so I could take her. In the morning it was always to take her outside, we couldn't stay at the residence. In the afternoon I had two hours to go visit her. The way was the same, let us know in advance and they would take it out, or we could stay at the residence, on an outdoor terrace or in a gym, full of chairs with wheels. It was not a suitable space for visitors. I was never able to enter the room I was in for the day (the director said it was to maintain the privacy of others). He also couldn't feed her in the residence, or even take her to her room. He died three weeks later. There are few staff. Just a nurse in the morning who does what she can and a doctor who came some days. When something happens to the residents, they call the clinic. The director is not empathetic at all. If I asked something or made an objection, he told me that if I didn't agree, I should take it away. Although the contract states that the return of the deposit and the unused time would be made in two months, when my mother died it took more than three months to make the corresponding return, despite having requested it twice after the time stipulated in the contract had elapsed. It couldn't be worse!!!
My mother was in this residence and I want to thank all the staff, from the assistants, fidio, nurse, Carlos, Carol... for the care and affection they gave her. In his last days, the family received extraordinary treatment and they made us feel at home. Amparo, thank you for understanding me and making it easier for me.
On the recommendation of other people, I had references to this center. My husband has Alzheimer's and he didn't eat much and since he is at the center I see him much better. I am very happy with the entire team and with the treatment of all the staff. I would recommend this residence, my husband is very happy in the center.
My mother-in-law has been in this Residence for a little less than 1 month. What a change! Her improvement has been spectacular, she eats better, she is groomed and cared for, her health has also improved with a change in medication that has been very effective from day one. His small wounds are happily resolved. I have nothing but words of praise for the entire team. I do regret the negative comments from some who worked there and from the followers of those comments. It seems tremendously unfair to me.
