I have expent a week keeping company to my grandmother, and have witnessed enough to want her out in-me-dia-tly. I have witnessed gents parked in corridors for hours or dragging their wheelchair with effort with no one to push them behind. Bored. Crying. See pictures. No help to cut their meals mouth bite to those with shaking hands. I have witnessed canteen staff being rude. They won't properly explain what are the meal options. Witnessed staff lying to a lady about her meal choice, tricking her to believe her memory has failed, so she had to just take what was convenient for the staff. I have witnessed first floor staff dealing with the cognitively challenged, being emotionally abusive ("que te he dicho que te calles"). I have witnessed mokeries/bullying from part of the staff. The place is under staffed and the crew is under far too much pressure. Field staff gets swapped floors and loose track of the people they know. This lead to an employee delaying 8 minutes to assist my grandmother to the toilet because they had not been notified of an update on her "evaluation sheet". I had just arrived and saw my relative peeing them selves on the floor because it was too late to wait. We did not receive a single apologie. I have find out that the Comunidad de Madrid offers a "service cheque " for seniors to hire their own private carer. They can get €400/€700 financial support again the cost of an certified home care company sending a team of carers (they deal with all the recruitment, screening, references, tax, payroll, replacements due to sickness or holiday, etc). This residency costs €2,500. A personalised team of carers (24h /7/365) can cost from €2.280 to €1,280 from the first budged I have requested. I still have to deduce the Madrid Community financial assistance, so we could be paying as little as €780 a month for permanent care at the state of great dependency grandmother is at. It is not a brainer to me what type of care I'm going to pick for my grandmother to be happy.

My grandmother has been a resident at Caser Residencial Santa Hortensia, and we could not be more grateful for the treatment received. From day one, the team has demonstrated unbeatable attention, always attentive to your needs and offering you exceptional care. What has impressed us most is the commitment of the management, who truly cares about the well-being of each resident. You can see the love and dedication in every detail, creating a warm and family atmosphere.
I have been a resident family member in this center for a long time and I do not recommend it at all. A few years ago Prado was the director and everything was working better. Since she left, the company has not stopped putting in directors whose only thing they worry about is doing nothing and not being in the center. I don't know what criteria they follow to appoint them but the residence is a disaster and the current director does not know nor does she want to solve anything, absent, even at a disastrous Christmas dinner. For that position they should ask for more humility and concern for what happens to the residents. Here, family members know each other and talk and each time this causes more shame and no one can be seen doing anything. He is saved by 3 or 4 workers who are involved with the residents and like what they do, especially nurses. The day these people are gone, I don't know what will happen to Caser. I advised against it to everyone I knew.
My aunt has been there for several years and it has been a shame, especially the end of her life. Being unwell enough to go to the hospital where she finally died. While they were doing an EKG they took some of his medals and they have not appeared. Nadia knows nothing and now they don't want to refund us the remaining money for her stay, she died on the 7th and they assured us that they would return the rest to us. It's been 20 days and still nothing. The management is a shame, no one called us from management to offer condolences when he died. Of course I will be able to make the pertinent complaint regarding the issue of their medals.
A family member was recovering after an intervention. The treatment and kindness were exceptional. We ended up very happy. Thanks to all the professionals at the residence.
