Creating a home for our residents. That is what we strive for. A place where our residents can be themselves, surrounded by their own things. Every day should be a good day and together we help each other achieve that in the Merenhoef Maarssen residential care center. Beautiful catchy text! To achieve the above, good healthcare staff is very important. In fact, good staff is the most important thing! However, the current management really thinks differently about this. Experienced staff are dismissed for a reason that is not based on truth And then opt for self-employed persons Knowing that permanent staff is the most important factor for elderly people with dementia. In my opinion, the name Salvation Army and this inhumane method do not go together. Even the Salvation Army Netherlands management closes its eyes to this. And who are the victims? The elderly with dementia The humanity that a nursing home is all about!!

My father has been living in a spacious room in the somatic department for three months now. As a family we had a very pleasant experience leading up to this. We were kept informed of progress by the intake agency in various ways. An intake interview has taken place. Sufficient information was provided during the conversation. All staff, including volunteers, are extremely friendly to residents and family. My father also enjoys it because many activities are organized in the Brasserie. The resident's personal wishes and needs are also respected and facilitated. There is plenty of free parking for visitors around the location. Another advantage is the GP nearby. In short, a big compliment to the Merenhoef healthcare institution so far.
The quality of care is below par. After several conversations with healthcare workers, personal supervisors, team leaders and location managers, there are still no improvements to be seen. Agreements made are not kept. Incidents are not reported. Health complaints are not reported. Communication with healthcare staff and colleagues is very poor. Because there are constantly new faces in the department (temporary workers), it is very unsettling for the residents. There is no time for personal attention and almost no activities are offered that are related to the disease of dementia. Staff often indicate that they cannot handle the workload and blame management. The cleaning is done very poorly. The dry cleaning service also makes a mess. Promises are always made for improvement. Unfortunately to date there are no significant improvements to report.
People are treated and cared for well, it's just a pity that there are few permanent staff in some departments and that family members are not listened to properly, etc.
They can't even deal with (starting) employees with decency here. They just leave you with excuses and lame excuses so that you don't want to come back.
