I visited this nursing home today and it was very nice. The staff were friendly, the environment was clean, there was a garden, and also participated in morning gymnastics activities.

Compared to an actual Nursing Home, this place is Heaven. No one wants to put their family member(s) into a nursing facility, and this facility offers the same level of care without the cold, grey, and grim surroundings. While it seems like the turn over rate is high, the reality of it is that this facility is only making sure to have employees who genuinely care and want to be here.
They have went thru 3 administrators within 6 months. Administration is chaotic & unprofessional. I had called 5 times about my mothers billing, yet when Esther from corporate arrived she stood in the hallway (with new potential family standing there) & told me I needed to pay my much delinquent bill (yet. she never tried calling me to discuss it). She advised she had told the administrators for months that the bill was past due all the while I was asking for a phone for corporate because my mom had Genworth extended care insurance, plus I had paid the bill in full once she passed. Esther fought with me about this & in the end she found out that she had in fact applied mom's check to another persons account. Mom had fallen 7 times within 6 days before she ended up in the ER & passed away at Hammond Henry Hospital extended care. The employee turnover is unbelievable. Two exceptions are: Paula who has been there for years & transports the residents to their appointments & takes them on trips along with custodial work. She is fantastic! Gina works on Wednesday & is the only one that ever kept us up to date with what was going on with mom. They used to have a wait list 10 years ago to get into here, but now t(and all last year) there's 5-10 empty rooms at any given time. They need to own their problems, make changes & get this place back to what it was years ago. It's so very sad.
The administration is inexperienced and unprofessional. They have went through so many employees since my mother had been there. When I would come to visit her always a new aid and nurses. In the evenings there would not be a RN at the facility only aids. Also my mother had fallen several times and we would never be notified from a nurse or administration. I would find out from my mother having a cut or bruises. Then I would ask her and she would tell me. She would stay in her room towards the end. If she wasn't hungry they would not take her down to the cafeteria. We specifically made sure it was in her file that we wanted her to go down for every meal. Even if she took a few bites. But this didn't happen unless I would show up and take her down. I would not recommend Woodridge Assisted living to anyone. They are not responsible nor for the elderly.
My mother-in-law would call family members weekly asking for help & assistance because she had called the staff for help & they wouldn’t go & check on her. Horrible communication. There were times she had fell & unless we were going to visit we weren’t being advised. There are other choices. This is NOT the place it was years ago. It was family owned & has been sold.
