Our mom, Norine, started at Woodlake in the rehab unit after breaking her back. After rehab she moved into the nursing home where they took the time to pair her with a roommate who became like a sister to her over the years. She participated in many of the recreation programs and special events at the facility and especially enjoyed the gardens and sitting areas outside. The staff at Woodlake supported her through several strokes and rehabs as well as Covid and increasing dementia. She always used to say, she felt loved and cared for there. Mom passed away at the end of February. The family is grateful for the care she received from the incredible staff.

My mother was there from Sept 2024 to almost Xmas and overall it was not a good experience. Her biggest complaint was lack of attention from the staff; in particular they kept her awake at all hours while she was trying to sleep. The food was at best satisfactory. She was also left too long in her bed which resulted in bed sores. One thing I have realized is that if you want to put your loved ones in a rehab/nursing home, go there in person before you make your decision and follow your instinct. Anyone can spruce up a website. If I had to say anything positive, her OT staff were nice and they made some progress with her.
Although I was there 2 years ago. Overall care was fair Staff at night shift change did not always care patients that were asleep...lights on and orders given When staff grabbed me by dialysis port I yelled. Why are you not communicating w me. She retorted I don't have to! I told her get the hell out of room. Next I need help, hit call button no response, called using my phone to main number..no one answered..called family they tried no response they called physician on call who also unable to reach anyone. Found both staff in lunch room w no phone.. I was moved 24 hrs later
Woodlake does a wonderful job keeping everyone safe, cared for, and accommodates family visits as best they can as long as there is no outbreak of covid. The staff on the floor my grandmother was on(the rehab unit) we're just wonderful and they would get my grandmother whatever she wanted or needed and was also very accommodating to us as a family. I wouldn't want a family member to go anywhere else. She was very well taken care of physically and mentally as well. Thank you for filling my grandmother's last few weeks on this Earth with dignity and compassion.
My uncle was at Woodlake at Tolland for 16 months and the staff at this place treated him wonderfully! His daughter told us they were always very aware of his needs, catching his illnesses early anytime he was getting sick. She said they are top notch in cleanliness and safety, never having a single case of Covid! The nurses and aides always gave him the best care. We highly recommend this place!
