1150 E Luther Dr, Crown Point, IN 46307, United States
Update 6/15/2025: I recently was told that this bankruptcy will probably be finalized in May or June of 2026. Due to the bankruptcy, Wittenberg is not obligated to return the entry fees to residents or former residents. However, they may choose to do so after the bankruptcy is completed in court. I will update this review in 2026 once the bankruptcy proceedings are complete. Update 4/2025: I have now been informed that Wittenberg along with 7 other Luther Life Communities are filing bankruptcy. Will update as this goes. Update 3/2025: Dad needed skilled nursing starting 12/2023 so we had to move him to a new facility. As of 3/2025 we still do not have dad's deposit returned to him. Due to this issue I had to change from 5 stars to 3. I will update this as this plays out. I would think hard before moving into a "Buy in" facility. The remaining review still holds true. This might be long but I think worth the read. My wife and I toured Wittenberg twice in late summer 0f 2020. We met staff and residents that were upbeat and friendly. I spoke with a resident just one on one and he told me that he was very happy there. As a facility you can have staff fake friendliness, but not have the residents fake and lie. We moved my 90 year old father into an independent townhouse at Wittenberg in January of 2021. He was hesitant to move from his home of 20 years. He now has been there 2 months and is very happy being there. The other residents are friendly and welcoming. He had 3 of them send him a birthday card in February. The staff have been quick to answer his questions and to resolve the two issues we’ve had. (A water filter on the fridge and a cable TV issue.) And most importantly he is enjoying the meals and the variety of choices he gets to pick from the menu. Jennifer was our initial contact and gave us the tours. She has been great in answering all of our questions through this process in a very timely manner. Missy is the woman who sees my dad twice a month to clean his house and he has said how nice and friendly she is. I wish I knew the names of the rest of the staff we have come in contact with, but all have been helpful and friendly.

I'm very happy to be living at Wittenberg Village. I feel safe and secure in my home. The staff is friendly, very helpful for whatever is needed. The food is delicious, well prepared and selections can't be beat. Just think, I don't have to cook, clean or mow my lawn! Best of all, no property taxes to worry about paying! I have great neighbors all around me and enjoy this beautiful campus. Come take a look, you'll love it too.
Our mother entered Wittenberg Village in 2011, in the Independent Living section. It is a lovely facility and Mom enjoyed her apartment there, and the many friends she has made. As time went on she has transitioned to Assisted Living and is now in Skilled Nursing. The management and staff have made these transitions as smooth and painless as possible with the changes that come with aging and the need for additional care. I encourage that you visit the campus and speak with the staff to determine if this is the place for your family or friends. It has been for our Mother.
The Staff at Wittenberg Village listened to all our needs and desires and helped us work through everything we needed to know to make the best choice for a retirement center in Northwest Indiana / ChicagoLand. We have been residents for several months and know we made the best choice. The facilities are beautiful, particularly the Independent Living homes and apartments. The campus is large, quiet and clean and the Crown Point location is very pleasant. Maintenance is first class! Food service is exceptional The cost is appropriate for the level of care. As a Continuing Care Retirement Community, we know Wittenberg will be there as we progress through the next stages of life. The Lutheran Life aspect is extremely important as one considers long term living in a community one can trust. Check out the details carefully; Wittenberg passes all the tests. As we are younger we can be completely independent while enjoying important services. And as we age we know we will be in good hands. Wittenberg is pet friendly and that is very important to us.
I moved into Wittenberg during COVID, and Jennifer and the staff have done everything possible to make my move as easy as possible. They made sure I was able to keep in touch with my family on the Internet. This place is very friendly and safe, and has a family-like atmosphere. Everybody seems to know everybody by name, both residents and staff. They really care about each other and are friendly and inclusive. Jennifer made me feel like family. She goes above and beyond, always keeping in touch with me and always willing to help with anything that I need. All of the staff that I have met so far, like Jennifer, Greg, Tony, Kelly, Arianna, and Nicole, have been very friendly and helpful to me. I’ve noticed when they’re walking around, if they notice somebody needs help with something, they immediately go to help or get someone to help with whatever they need. The food is very good here. There’s a nice dining hall and outdoor patio area and the food service staff is very nice and accommodating to my food requests. I like that Wittenberg has continuing care options to move into if I need it in the future. It’s nice to know I would be in the same community with friends around that I could still visit with. I’m glad I made this move to Wittenberg, and look forward to many years of fun activities and socializing with the staff and the other residents and their families.
