My mother is a resident with advance Alzheimer’s. Between my brother and myself, someone from the family drops in weekly. Yesterday my wife and I visited and were absolutely appalled with how unsanitary her room had become. It started with mom using her bathroom. My wife asked her to wash her hands after. She went in to help her, and found the bathroom sink not working. I investigated and found the valves to the sink were closed. I opened them, turned the faucet on, and found the faucet screen nearly completely clogged and the drain draining very slowly. So instead of repairing the issues, apparently it was decided to just shut the water off. No more hand washing for you lady. This, along with the condition of the rest of her bathroom made us look at everything closely. We found black mold in her refrigerator, soiled adult diaper under the sink, dirty dinnerware in drawers, food wrappers and 1/2 eaten items in “hidden”areas. Very unsanitary and unsafe. Mom is in memory care for a reason. She will not relearn how to clean up after herself, nor does she have the cognitive ability to ask the aides for assistance. We are paying 6k monthly for her care, this is completely unacceptable. So with that, my wife went and confronted the staff as to why mom’s room is in the condition it is in. They claim they try to go in and clean, but mom gets agitated so they leave it alone. When asked why they don’t take advantage and clean when she is out for activities a couple hours a day….silence. We asked for bleach and cleaning supplies, they could not provide any. We were told it was all locked in the janitor closet. How were they to clean the room then anyway?? In the end, my wife found dish soap, filled the kitchenette sink with hot water and we cleaned the room as best we could with what we had. It’s is disgraceful. In order to post, I had to give it at least one star for review….

Willow Falls attempted to refuse my father's return from the hospital after he had a seizure. They accepted him back after a social worker informed them of my father's legal right to return to his own domicile. During all this they contacted my sister and told her that they were kicking him out because of a violent episode. This social worker stated this is not the first time they've witnessed this treatment of Willow Fall's residents. I complied with their wished and moved my father, who was now deemed as violent, to a different facility that would accept him on short notice. I spoke with multiple staff members at Willow Falls who informed me that they never had any problems with my father. More than likely this had to do with my father's 25% discount that was negotiated prior to his occupancy with the previous management. When Willow Falls came under new management, the price was increased across the board, and they reneged on the original discount. I was also informed that the rent for the month of his vacancy would be prorated and we would receive a partial refund for the month. No refund has been received. Hopefully this review is helpful to those of you deciding where to house your vulnerable loved ones.
Our loved one loved in Willow Falls for over 5 years. We loved all the workers and nurses and our loved one seemed happy. If I was writing this review 4 months ago it would be a 4-5 star review. Sadly I am writing this review after our love one passed. The individuals who took care of her were very sympathetic and showed great compassion. My husband tried to meet with the Director 3 times to see what we needed to do and when we needed to clean our her space by but he was too busy to talk to us. We just got billed for January and our bill is not correct, still he did not come out of the office but instead sent someone out to tell us not to worry about it. No card, no I am sorry for your loss from the management for someone who stayed there for over 5 years. We were just $ to them. Very disappointing.
We moved my mother in law to Willow Falls. The experience was beyond our expectations. Stephanie, the senior living advisor, took care of everything and we had no concerns. All the staff members from the front desk person to the nurses were lovely and accommodating. She has been there for a week and we are still impressed. Thank you to the amazing staff at Willow Falls, we are grateful!
I've traveled with my company to many places within 1.5 hrs of Joliet for work. I've seen many senior living facilities. Willow Falls is by far an exceptional place. The building is clean, up to date, has great food, compassionate nursing staff. It's overall a great place to be. I'm very satisfied with Willow Falls, they've gone above my expectations.
