The care and kindness of the staff at Wexner Village Rehabilitation center was wonderful. Mom came out of hospital on dialysis and needing a lot of help. Wexner having dialysis on site was so convenient especially since her mobility was so limited. Selma was super helpful to us navigating this new territory. Her help and advice was invaluable and I don’t know what we would have done without her., The nurses, aides, PT, OT staff and all the support staff were wonderful as well.

My mother came to the Wexner Heritage Village and spent a month there. We needed a place where she could get dialysis on site and were told Wexner is the best of those places. She was treated kindly by the nurses and aides. Selma the social worker was absolutely wonderful and really helped us navigate everything. In our experience good staff is everything and I felt good about the care she received while at the Wexner.
This nursing facility is terrible. Less than one star! I couldn't wait to get out of there. The majority of the aides do only what they have to and no more. Some rude and nasty and are neglectful. Don’t give baths on a regular basis. Would not attend to colostomy bag appropriately and let blow up. Wouldn't let me sit up on side of bed (don't have time); just let me lay in bed to die; losing any physical therapy I had gained. They have time to talk about their schedules, patients, personal lives, laughing, etc. in the hallway loud enough to be heard. Would take their time to answer or ignore the call light or when answered turn it off stating they'd be back in a few and would either take their time or forget. Even though they knew the time schedule, they couldn't get me to dialysis on time most of the time. The ONLY aides that actually cared were Lisa, Wanda, and Anthony and one night aide. Oh, the stories I could tell! The rooms are old, dingy and dark, furniture and TV are very old and are in a real dire need of an upgrade. TV didn't work much of the time. Food was always cold. When leaving, I had a few personal items (one a conficated package) that I wanted to take with me and the nurse refused to let me take them. Said I couldn't take two bags with me in the wheelchair van. She said my daughter had to drive over an hour to come get them. Even though I have requested they send them to me many times, I still do not have them. There were a few staff that actually cared about the patients. The reception staff for the building were always pleasant. The dialysis center (which is a total separate entity) is wonderful. The care at this nursing facility is far below the very high cost.
I visited my grandmother today at Wexner Heritage Village, as I do often, and I want to start by saying that she’s always been treated well whenever I or other family members are around. That care and attention is the reason we’ve kept her here. We’ve always trusted that she’s in good hands. However, I’ve noticed something concerning. While visiting, I’ve repeatedly seen some of the nursing staff, especially the aides, speak to their coworkers in a disrespectful and unprofessional way when they think no one is paying attention. One aide in particular, named Erin, stood out for how she treated others on the floor. It’s uncomfortable to watch, and it makes me wonder what might be going on when my family and I aren’t around. If this kind of behavior continues, I may have to ask the person responsible for my grandmother’s care decisions to consider moving her to another facility. The way staff treat each other reflects the overall environment, and I want to be sure my grandmother is in a place that feels respectful and safe in every way. I hope management pays attention to these concerns and takes steps to address them. This facility has the potential to be a truly great place, but staff culture behind the scenes matters just as much as the care we see.
I place my grandmother here thinking it would be a nice place. Seeing that the pre greeting was okay nurses nice and waving. But, after I placed my grandmother i was back and forth almost daily. There was a day my grandmother was holding on trying not to fall out her bed as it tilted due to her bed malfunctioning. Maintenance was called to fix her problem as now she is sitting in her wheelchair more believing her bed will malfunction again. Even the way she was being treated by nursing and staff was unacceptable in many ways. It was times she would be laying in bed over 45 minutes waiting to get help to the restroom. Nursing telling her they refuse to help her up due to one person being on the floor. My grandmother didn’t make any improvements while here and stayed unhappy the whole time. I even had a conversation with nursing and felt as if they were very unprofessional. Now she will be discharged with no equipment to support her in attempting to walk for a few months. We are just very unhappy with anything that was done here. If I could select a lower grade I most definitely would!
