They probably don't get a lot said about them but let me give a big hand for the people who do the laundry at Westminster Village. I send out dirty clothes, sheets, towels and wash cloths and when they come back, they are clean, pressed, and folded. I have never been able to fold our king-sized fitted sheets. They know how. For the first time I can put the fitted sheet and the top sheet in the same drawer. All I have to do is sort, bag, the dirty clothes and they came back clean, pressed, and folded. It's also important that they all come back and I never get someone else's shirt. A Big Hurray for Westminster's Laundry people. All the complaints about the food here at my little piece of heaven on earth, Westminster Village is in a famous general's word "nuts." Today they knocked it out of ballpark again with gravy and homemade biscuits and scrambled eggs for breakfast. For lunch with a wonderful broccoli cream soup served with the best chicken salad I've ever eaten. Finally, tonight it was a great meat loaf with mashed potatoes, and peas. All of this wonderful food was delivered to my table by hard working servers in the most beautiful and clean dining room I have ever eaten in. My word for the cooks and servers is "thank you." I'm sure you don't hear it enough. I

BEWARE! My mother is now on the 4th year in independent living and to say we are extremely unhappy is an understatement. I moved my father in several month's ago to give the facility another chance to change but nothing has improved only gotten worse. Westminster Village facility was bought out my another company over a year ago but NOTHING has been updated. They put up new boards showing what was to come in the beginning but have only delivered false promises, and have watched as the facility deteriorates daily. Water flooding in basement, no air conditioning in common area since LAST spring/summer, the food portions have been cut in half and no longer receiving the quality, they have had rodents in the kitchen, and an ongoing issue with bed bugs. They have extremely high turnover and no one is listening to the ongoing issues! i feel terrible for the kitchen staff and maintenance, they are overworked and not enough help! I have never written a terrible review for anyone but this is absolutely and utterly shocking and I don't want anyone else to make the terrible mistake we have made by living here. Enough is enough....I'm sure the state will be getting involved soon!
I have seen several improvements since I began working at Westminster. The team is caring and does their best to meet needs and be compassionate. Our teamwork is improving every day. I enjoy seeing all the activities. It is a joy to be here each day.
If you put your family member here don’t expect them to ever have water in their water cups, don’t expect their call lights to be answered because not only do the lights get ignored, but even turned off at times or unplugged from the wall. Don’t expect them to be clean either. In the over a year I worked for this facility I have reported many situations and no reports have ever been taken seriously. The administration does not care about your loved one and has proved that time and time again. Trying to find a CNA or Nurse on the floor for help is near impossible you’d have better luck finding them in the parking lot or hiding in their cars rather than on the floor while call lights are being ignored. This facility seems to have a new administrator every year too so don’t expect any help there either. I do not recommend this facility to anyone.
My mother has lived there for a few years in independent living. And she loved it when she moved in. The food and the staff. The activities director was fabulous! She was so happy she made the choice. Fast forward to 2023. The facility has been sold to another company and now the food is so bad and the carpets aren’t vacuumed and are filthy. There isn’t staff for the kitchen and there isn’t a chef. So now instead of filling out a menu or having choices on a menu it’s what they decide they are fixing. Too bad if you don’t want it or can’t eat it. No longer table service. It’s stand out side till they say it’s time to eat. Like a school cafeteria. And even though it’s suppose to be 4-6. It’s 4:30 to 5:00. My mother went down at 5 once and they had already cleaned bins and put stuff away. She was lucky they offer her a ham sandwich. They weren’t happy about it. Housekeeping was changed from every 2 weeks to once a month. And it looks as though they aren’t cleaning whole place on a regular schedule. It’s really a shame. So if you are looking currently for independent living. Do not pick this facility. We are hoping to get her out ASAP!
