I strongly advise against placing your loved ones at Westchester. The facility is severely understaffed, unresponsive, and unsanitary, with constant management turnover. My father fell and was left on the floor for over an hour because no one was around to assist him. When I call after 5 PM, no one answers the phone. If I could give zero stars, I would. The only redeeming factor is the handful of dedicated aides who do their best despite the poor conditions. To make matters worse, the facility has a bed bug infestation (see photo). I’ve called and emailed multiple times, yet no one has responded, and no exterminator has been sent to my dad’s room. The food service is equally concerning. Some nights, dinner consists of nothing but hot dogs. I question whether a nutritionist is even on staff, as my diabetic father frequently receives meals that are not appropriate for his condition. Westchester is failing its residents, and it’s heartbreaking to see. I urge others to look elsewhere for quality care.

Westchester of Sunrise is truly a wonderful place! The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely cares about the well-being of the residents. The facility is always clean, well-maintained, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like home. The Administrator, goes above and beyond to ensure that every resident receives the best care possible, and it truly shows in the happy and comfortable environment she has helped create. If you’re looking for a compassionate, professional, and family-oriented assisted living facility, I highly recommend Westchester of Sunrise!
Be careful, be very careful, if you truly love your loved ones, never leave them in this facility, in Westchester. The facility is understaffed, and unsanitary. The facility has an infestation of bed bugs and cockroaches, we have called several times, we have made complaints personally, we have seen the animals walking around, but no one answered and they said they will remove rotten carpets and furniture, but so far nothing happens, they have not fixed it The food service is horrible, dinner consists only of hot dogs or two pieces of bread with two slices of bacon. It seems that there is no nutritionist on staff, as the food is not suitable for people of that age Westchester is failing, failing, failing its residents and the government, they need to improve the facilities and sanitation.
A month ago the highly competent and caring new administrator Myra Perez-Fliegler started her position here. After more than 2.5 years of slumlord criminal management, Myra is a God send. She has dropped the hammer on the slumlord style management and has adopted a strong grip (iron fist) styled management and is very focused on turning this place around. New staff and vendors are replacing ghetto types and now, many of the residents will be housed in new facilities to handle their severe mental and memory problems. They require 24/7 acute care and supervision. I APPLUED MYRA for taking on the challenge of a lifetime. Excellence is her style and people are loving the great changes!
This is just not a great facility. The staff is no responsive. Things get stolen left and right. They misplace laundry items, they keep giving food that people with certain allergies can't eat. They are rude to residents. There is no one there to help after 6pm. Good luck getting a hold of them on the weekends. They never answer their phones. As someone who is long distance away from their family, it's a nightmare trying to deal with this place. If you cant be there in person, forget about it. Don't be fooled by the cheaper price, you def get what you pay for. We have been here 11 months and can't wait to leave. So not recommend this place for your family.
