I do not recommend. My father was there for three weeks he was in decent shape when he arrived. He left via emergency ambulance unresponsive 3 weeks later due to their neglect and was immediately placed in the ICU. Although for days prior to him leaving we told the care center our concerns as he seemed very ill (and he was) it fell on deaf ears While he was there - although we called for updates on his condition specifically to Tiffany no return calls and when seen at the facility she avoided us Food was awful too. I wouldn’t put my least favorite person in the world there. Avoid at all costs You literally are putting anyone who stays at this facility in danger - now that my father is in a much better rehab we realize West Caldwell was the worst! DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER

Recently we placed my mother in Hospice here. We were unable to provide the care she needed at home and we found West Caldwell Care Center. We visited several places before we made our decision to select this facility. I was impressed during the tour. The facility was clean and the coordinator Sade knew all the residents by name. The residents were out and about and interacting with each other. From the day mother entered the facility to the evening she passed away, everyone was very kind and accommodating. The unit supervisor LaSonya was great, as well as all the other staff we encountered.
While some of the staff are amazing and really do care and try very hard, the simple truth is the facility does not meet the needs of it's residents as they decline. My mother was there for 6 plus years and the early experience was very good, but then as time progressed and she needed more assistance and medical care, it became more troubling. There is ALWAYS a staffing shortage and the call lights would take 30 to 40 minutes for a response and many times go totally un-answered. (Forget about getting someone to answer the phone at the nurses desk when you call on the weekend most times )Most problematic, is they rely on a local doctor to make all the medical decisions beyond an aspirin and he stops in only once a week -sometimes not even that-and no one has any idea when he will be in which is ridiculous in 2023! The facility is left totally in the dark while your loved one languishes and you beg and plead for real medical attention. Bottom line if your loved one is reasonably self-sufficient and you are engaged regularly, it can be a very nice place with lots of activities and most staff work very hard and care...but if they are in poor health, it becomes a real problem as despite it being a "nursing home", the staff are forever "waiting for the doctor" and your loved one won't get the real medical attention they need or be sent to the hospital until it's too late...
This “For Profit” agency lives up to the term. Staffing may meet state requirements but does not meet resident needs. Residents are left in their bed all day, in wet diapers, left waiting for extended periods after pushing call bells. Residents who can dress themselves and transfer to wheelchairs do, and then roll down hall seeking help. Those that can’t dress themselves, or transfer independently to a wheelchair, may miss physical therapy that day if no one is available to assist. No matter how concerned one may be about one’s family member, it can be very difficult to reach or see a doctor as staff seemed reluctant to call on family concerns but did call when other staff request it. The staff were nice, but in my opinion there was simply no way they could realistically meet all of the care needs for all of the residents. This is a for profit facility, and making a profit is the owners goal. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not because providers don’t care, I believe they do, but because residents needs are not met. Resident needs seemed to be neglected at this facility, and some might consider certain conditions of that neglect abusive. If you send your loved one here, plan to stay with them.
If I could give no stars I would. Terrible care and neglect of my Dad! He was there for 5 days and not once did the doctor go to see him to assess him. He declined rapidly in those 5 days and only after me demanding to see a doctor did they call a transport to the hospital.....3.5 hours later the transport arrived. This man needed 911 not medical transport! This shows the incompetence of the nursing staff! Do not entrust your loved one to this facility !!!!
