Christine the concierge was amazing. She made my grandmother feel loved while she was there. It made her comfortable and happier. Which during a tough time is always a loving thing. If I can recommend a single person in this establishment I would 100% recommend to specifically ask about Christine as a care giver because you’ll comfortably know my family member will feel love and family, and happiness during this time of life. Christine is a blessing.

Physical therapy and occupational therapy were great. I couldn’t say more for such a great team. The aids were wonderful. The food was horrible. I lost 20 pounds in three weeks and I was there. The nursing staff was horrible. I was injected with two medicines together, which shouldn’t have been together And I threw up for two days. In the meantime, while I was sick throwing up, they told me they needed my bed so I had to leave sit in another room while they made up my bed for someone else
Waters Edge Rehab made a truly challenging experience manageable. The nursing & daily care staff are a group of caring, hardworking people. They appear to be understaffed (it seems that's the world we now live in everywhere), but they find a way to make it work. The care my Mom got from PT & OT was absolutely outstanding. During my Mom's stay, PT & OT were the ones that really got my Mom through the day & ultimately home.
I was recently in New York visiting family and friends as well as my grandmother who is currently at this facility I was taken in awe by what I seen and witnessed while visiting 2 days back to back and listening too what my mother had to say about the facility and faculty. First I wanna say Thank you to the CNAs firstly and funny as it is his name is Adonis I knew he was a incredible human being from the Aura and Smile he carried he illuminated the whole 1st floor and when I seen his badge I had to laugh because it totally fits him. My mom loves him and my grandmothers absolutely adore him she said he has been taking care of her since she arrived at the building and has been attentive, caring and supportive in her rehabilitation and daily needs. He was super respectful and helpful he greeted me and it felt like I knew him for years cause of how easy it was for me and him to strike up a conversation I give Adonis a 10/10 no flaws in his work or demeanor. Secondly I put them both in the same sentence the CNA lady and Diana who worked closely with Adonis were amazing as well they have great chemistry working together and are all incredible CNAs. Thirdly to the nurse Jackie who was attentive to my grandmothers needs when it came to her pain management and listening to her concerns. The room was clean and my grandmother’s belongings were well taking cared of. I give the Watersedge in my opinion 10/10 but my grandmother would give it 9/10 only because she said the food isn’t that great all the time but they have there moments.
I unfortunately have had the experience of visiting many bad nursing homes between the past care of my grandma and an internship in social work at one. This nursing home is peacefully placed in Port Jefferson on road surrounded with trees, quiet and nature. For those who are still mobile and able to be transported, there are many nice sitting areas outside and inside to get fresh air or get out of your room. There is also a big rec room on each floor for what I would presume would be for activities and gatherings. There is security to be let in and out of the building for the protection of the visitors and residents as well. Of course, it is a nursing home so the smells and general atmosphere are not the best and happiest, but for what it’s worth, it seems to be comfortable for my aunt and there were nurses in her room and with her roommate at the time of my visit. The staff in general seem to be very nice and kind, and most residents were out of their room near the nurses station, so despite any shortage of staff that may be presented at times, the patients were still in an area that gets them out of their room, with other people and in the eyes of a caretaker, which is very important. My aunt does not get out of bed at all, she cannot take care of herself, but she seems to be in high spirits and taken care of to the best of anyone’s ability, which is a blessing considering her mental decline was previously making her aggressive -and mean towards me and the family. Because of her care at this facility, I was finally able to see her for the first time in over 8 years, because whatever they have been doing to care for her, whether it’s medicinal support or what have you, she is happy. Still mixed up, but happy, and treated me with the kindness I’m grateful to know she still has for me in her heart. Me and my family can finally visit her and know it will be a pleasant experience. It’s brought me and my family much needed peace to know she still loves us and is taken care of despite her ailments and mental illness. I would not have known otherwise if she wasn’t medicated and taken care of to make her a more peaceful, happy, grounded, person. And that’s all you can hope for your family member or anyone who is needing care, for them to be happy despite their circumstances and to spend whatever time they have left, content.
