Unfortunately I can not recommend this facility for your loved one. My mother lived there from September, 2024 to December, 2024. Before she moved in they assured my mom that they had a full time chef to prepare the meals each day. After moving in she found that her meals were prepared off site and served mostly cold. It was not unusual for her to wait up to an hour for her meal. The facility is also very under staffed. A nurse was always difficult to locate. I would not recommend Walnut Creek for your senior needs. There are better facilities out there.

Rehab unit helped kill my mother 2 years ago, not exaggerating. New, contracted in, incompetent, aids constantly. Didn’t even know how to put barrier cream on. Unimaginable bed sores. One nurse for the whole unit overwhelmed. Rarely heard from social worker. Never from physician. Mom said they would just walk out as she was puking. She didn’t eat. Left her sit for a week waiting on insurance, no therapy nothing. Worst decision ever to put her there for rehab. Please don’t put your loved one here.
DON'T DO IT! If you truly love your loved one, please reconsider placing them here. Unfortunately, Walnut Creek was under negotiations to sell to a new owner exactly when we were looking into placing our mother there in July 2024. Once the application process was completed she was told she would be able to move in by the end of July. Plans were made and moving her from her home started taking place in order to be ready by then. We were called within only 24 hours before moving her to be told that it was going to be a little longer before she could be moved in! We were pretty upset at that point. We decided to hang in there as we had been sold on the quality of care she would receive from them. After a few weeks we finally had someone tell us what was going on! My point here is that we were clueless that they were selling and had we known this important fact we would have never followed through. At the time, the representative nurse who gave us the tour of the facility assured us that most of the existing staff had been there for many years. They had a full-time chef that made their foods healthy and that it was a priority for them. This was a huge selling point for our loved one as she had focused many years of her life eating healthy and this was very important to her. Haha! Perhaps that was true with the old ownership, but it certainly isn't now. Long waits for meals was not unusual. She would have to wait upwards of 1 hour after making her way to the dining room to receive her food. This is totally unacceptable. Fortunately for Mom, she has moved on to her final home where she no longer has to deal with this!
This is a beautiful campus and a great place for all residents. All the staff is friendly and helpful. I am proud to be a part of this campus and wouldn't want to work anywhere else! Take a tour and you will fall in love with the campus.
ZERO STARS!!! This place is awful!!!! They will hold valuable items after your loved one has passed away!! The owner is awful and doesn't care about anything but money. Do not put your loved one in here!! They will be better taken care of at a bus stop in the frozen Ohio winter.
