I've lived at ventana Winds for a year and 5 months. I was one of the ambassadors when I lived here. I really did try hard to bring positivity to Ventana Winds. I tried to be patient, I was told to be patient the whole year I lived there, be patient with the employees because they were new. I do want to say I like the director. I feel for you I wouldn't want your job. I know my review doesn't sound good. I'm saying how it was in my eyes as a resident that was independent. I want to get this out I was not independent. They call you Independent at Ventana winds if you do your own medications. Before I became independent it was really hard to get anybody to help me. I became independent living there. I did everything myself except for cooking meals and laundry, and the little house cleaning they did. The third day I lived there the residents were telling me that the employee's steal. That made me wanted to move on the 3rd day. As time went on it seemed it was true, some residents had there things stolen from them. As time went on, before I was independent before they allowed me to take my medications in my room. I was given the wrong medications, fortunately I knew what every medication looked like, I knew the names, so I didn't take the wrong medication. After it happened about four times I had a meeting with the director. They let me take my own medication. As for the caregivers and med-techs, there's some med techs that really knew what they were doing. 3 that I know of 3 that really took time and really cared about the residents and two of them are not there anymore. One of them is still there I think. Honestly Ventana Winds was the most depressing place I've ever lived. Fortunately I found a place that I feel comfortable in and I moved. I pray for all the residents that are still at Ventana Winds. I made very good friends there, who I call family. The residents check on each other. Because no one else checks on them. If you take your your own medication they don't check on you oh, I take that back, they'll check on you in the middle of the night and wake you up. If you tell them not to wake you up, then they won't check on you at all. I was gone a week and I came back and only a few of the employees knew I was gone. I had a note on my door saying I was gone. I told Wellness I was going away for a week. I came back and the Wellness desk didn't know I was gone. I'm putting one star because I can't put 0. The food tasted like it was cooked in old oil and they serve canned fruit not fresh fruit. The vegetables didn't taste like they were fresh and when they were fresh they were hard, so some of the people couldn't eat them. A lot of times the meat wasn't cooked. I never had a hot meal. When you ordered sugar and cream for your coffee it came late, when you ordered ketchup it comes late and many times at least three times a week you couldn't even get a server. Majority of the time the cups and glasses were dirty, they gave you Styrofoam cups to drink out of. They should have just stuck with the styrofoam cups they're lighter to pick up and they're cleaner.

We moved our mother into memory care at Ventana Winds last October. Heather, Dawn, and Mike were very helpful in making the transition from another facility in the Valley. The staff has been very supportive of our mother and very responsive to me and my family when we have had questions or issues. We recently had a couple of issues that were a concern but both Heather and Mike were quick to make the issues right and made changes to some of the ways they do business, which will positively impact other residents. Our mother historically has not been the easiest person to care for but in a recent conversation with her she said she really likes Ventana Winds, the people are good to her, they take good care of her, and she feels like it is home. That says volumes about the staff—who are angels in my book as it is a gift to be able to care for elderly memory residents. Thank you for sharing your gifts with our loved ones.
Just want to share the photo of this pretty pudding served to a resident who could not see. Kudos to Ventana Winds for such an amazing dining and kitchen staff who still provide the best service to the residents even if the residents themselves may not be able to see the care, the residents can feel the effort the staff do. So we hope the administration can recognize their staffs work and provide them with more support. If this is how well they are despite being understaffed, the more they can continue such excellent work when they are not overworked.
Wow! Really loving everything about Ventana Winds so far! The Marketing Consultant, Dawn, is an absolute Angel & miracle worker! She was very quick to respond to any questions I had and she was extremely helpful during the process. I brought my parents to meet Dawn and had a great tour of the facility and had a very tasty lunch. They were going through a remodel while we were touring/moving in and it was really nice to see the difference of the before and after. Many people said hello and told us how they like living there. All of the staff is extremely helpful during the move-in process. Nothing but great things to say here. Parents are now living there and continue to say how delicious the food is, and all the nice people they continue to meet. Maintenance was really helpful during the move-in process. But honestly, every business should have their own version of a Dawn working for them. She is such a gem!
If you want to live in hell, or punish a loved one, put them in this place. You sign a contract, but they don’t follow it. Their answer is if you don’t like it you’re only on a 30 day lease so get out. Cold food, wrong or late desperately needed meds. Hot water sporadically off. This is a very, very very unhappy place..A Director that might as well be a warden. The nurse has no idea what he is doing. dog friendly what a joke. Even a service dog .Daily trash pick up ,lucky if it’s weekly. bugs everywhere do not expect very many compassionate workers. If you complain, expect heavy retaliation This is not assisted , This is controlled living Thank God I had A daughter that got me out of there. If you want to see many residents, crying In fear, that’s the place to go. All I can say is I pray for those that are left there!!!!🤬🤬😠😠💔 most recently, April 3, 2024 Marine friend of mine was basically run out of there. They tried to automatically pull money out of his account when he told Rebecca in compliance not to do it anymore. This trust me is not a good place and not good people running it In administration
