From the moment I step into the community, I'm always greeted with a warm smile from Bobby, who is dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness and pleasant atmosphere, often accompanied by some cheerful tunes! Reneea is always approachable and ready to assist, whether it's helping families, residents, or staff—her multitasking skills are unmatched. Shaelee, the Executive Director, has truly been a breath of fresh air, bringing a positive shift in the culture. She is committed to ensuring that both residents and families feel heard and supported, and she actively encourages feedback and implements meaningful change. Shelly is full of energy and enthusiasm, making each tour a truly personal experience. She takes the time to get to know you and understand why Urbana would be the perfect place to call home. The nursing team, including Elizabeth and Tayva, have gone above and beyond. Their passion for providing exceptional care to the residents and offering support to families is evident, and the positive transformation in such a short time is remarkable. David, the Culinary Director has really set the bar high in the kitchen and it’s very nice to hear residents raving about delicious food while walking past the Dining Room! Finally, a big thank you to Emily in billing for always keeping an open door and for introducing new staff members to families at Urbana. Each and every one of you has made a lasting impact on why I believe Urbana is truly a 5-star senior living community. Thank you!

When our mom moved to Assisted Living at Urbana Senior Living in Brooklyn Park, MN, in November, 2019, everything was fine. In June, 2021, our mom moved to Memory Care. and until her death in December, 2024, we constantly emailed concerns to the facility because services that were part of her service contract that she was paying, were NOT being honored. This was ongoing and continued until her death in December, 2024. Also, how does a staff keep their job when they covered and unplugged the camera in my mom‘s room? Our family has asked the director (who I believe is the fourth or fifth director in five years) at the Brooklyn Park facility what Lifespark is going to do to make things right for families who paid tens of thousands of dollars for services they did not receive. We are not the only family with these concerns. No response has been received. Edited to add.............After a loved one passes away, why should a family have to pay for an additional 2 weeks of food; who is eating it? It is bad enough families have to pay an additional 2 weeks of rent. Edited a second time to add ……… Monica, I left two phone voice messages with you the end of January. I left my contact information and I’ve heard nothing from you.
I am so impressed with the leadership team at Urbana, who have been beyond helpful and accommodating. Shaelee’s positivity is everything this vibrant community needs to continue shining!
My Mom lived at Urbana Place for 1&1/2 years. Our family & friends agree she made an excellent choice. The staff was friendly, helpful and caring.
This is my third time updating this review, and I have never given a one-star rating before, but I feel it is necessary to ensure future residents and their families are fully informed. My mother lived at this facility from 2021 until January of this year. While things were fine when she was independent, serious issues became apparent as her care needs increased. I want to share specific, recent examples to highlight these concerns. Despite paying $7,500 per month for advanced care, I discovered that my mother had been left in a soiled diaper for 24 hours. During my four-day visit, her sheets were soaked through three times, indicating she was not being changed frequently enough to prevent leaks. While I was there cleaning and packing for six hours, staff checked on her three times. When I finally mentioned she had not been changed, the aide’s attitude was dismissive, making it clear that assisting her was an inconvenience. Additionally, the staff member who was supposed to help my mother shower spent the entire time on the phone with a friend, speaking in another language rather than providing proper assistance. There were many other issues, but one final concern I must mention is the billing practice. Before my mother moved out, I proactively spoke with the assistant director to ensure she would not be charged for the following month. Despite this, she was still billed $7,550—eight days after she had vacated the facility. The high staff turnover and the overall quality of care at this for-profit facility are deeply concerning. Based on my experience, I would not recommend entrusting your loved one to this establishment.
