Traditions of Deerfield is an amazing place! The facility is top notch, the staff highly qualified and caring, and the food quality is very good. I enjoy the restaurant feel of the dining room featuring specials for every meal plus two other menus in case the special is not interesting. There are many activities to do and I enjoy the live music every Wednesday. Happy Hour is offered every day. I feel very at home here.

We moved my Dad to Traditions Deerfield to rehab after a knee replacement surgery. He was 88 living independently, driving, doing everything for himself, prior to surgery. After staying in a rehab facility for 20 days, we chose Traditions of Deerfield for my Dad to live in a Respite for 30 days and receive Physical Therapy. Seemed like the best choice, everything under one roof! At first the place seemed great, but as time went on I realized there was nothing that sets this place apart from any other Assisted Living. The staff constantly changes. He would ask for help and it would take 20 sometimes 30 minutes for someone to answer. If you call to have someone check on him because there was no answer on his cell phone or his cell phone was not charged. All they care about is….”he came to the dining room for all his meals today.” In other words, I was asking too much to have someone go check on my father and help make sure his cell phone was charged. Anything you asked for was too much! Even toilet paper! He was charged $2900 for AL Medical Care each month. There is NO WAY the care he received was worth $2900. The Physical Therapy he received was expensive and did not help him. This place is a joke!!! 100% DO NOT PLACE your loved one here. I would not trust them with my dog!!! Overpriced for what you get! Which is basically nothing. It breaks my heart, when. I think of the 7 long months he spent there. It was a total disservice to him! :( He is home now and thriving. He has care givers that truly care about him.
The nurses and aides provide great care. However, I can't say the same for the Director or the Director of Nursing. Their response to concerns/issues is minimal, if at all. We moved our father there due to declining health and they sold us on how great everything is there. He was only there a month until he passed away and we still have issues that were never addressed by the administration. Very slow service in the cafeteria -- residents would have their hand help up for 10-20 minutes and still no one would wait on them. Very short staffed. The phone would not direct to the nursing care base after hours, it would just ring, and this is a major concern.
My Mom is 105 and she is really enjoying her experience at Traditions of Deerfield. Every staff member is so kind and caring. They go out of their way to ensure the residents’ safety and happiness. The activities are amazing there too!! Just as importantly, the residents have formed deep friendships there.
We moved Mom to Traditions a month ago because of her progressing dementia, and my brother and I can’t be more pleased about our decision. The directors and staff have been extremely, professional, helpful and caring every step of the way. Brooke, the Admissions Director, and Sarah, the Executive Director, have been warm and attentive to every concern. Whitney, the Wellness Director, and her assistant, Nikki, both really care and really listened when I discussed with them my mom’s daily routine and needs. And they have followed through on everything we discussed. The nurses and aids are all kind and cheerful and go the extra mile to make Mom feel comfortable, cared for, and at home. There are a nice variety of activities. Socialization is something really important for Mom, and the aids remind her daily of the activities they know she enjoys and will walk her to them. The staff in the dining room are also great… very friendly and pleasant. They know that my mom is lactose intolerant and are already looking out for her and guiding her with food choices. The food is also excellent. I have eaten there, myself, several times. The place is immaculate, bright, cheerful and comfortable. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained. There are plenty of areas for the residents to sit outside and enjoy the outdoors, which is something my mom likes to do. The residents are also wonderful. They are very friendly, kind, and seem to really care and look out for one another. Again, I can’t say enough good things about Mom’s stay already at Traditions. We are so grateful to the whole team. They have given us such peace of mind, and they do such a beautiful job of making life so pleasant for my mom and all the residents there.
