My grandmother was a resident in Assisted Living and Memory Care at The Village of St. Edwards until she recently passed. When I would come and visit my grandmother she would talk greatly about how well she was taken care off and that the workers were very kind to her. It nice to see and hear that she was given great care and that she was in a great community again. The buildings were very well taken care of with nice outdoor features and plenty of activities throughout the week for the residents. All my family still talks about how great of experience they had with my grandmother and The Village of St. Edwards and how pleasant it was for her.

My mom was there for 7 years. She had a major heart attack and other problems and was on hospice when she went in. They straightened out her medicine. The care was terrific. She passed away on March 16 and the sympathy from the staff was appreciated. My wife and I visited 5 days a week. You need to be present, even if it's dropping in for 20-30 minutes. Get to know the names of the staff. Compliment them. That way, when a problem arises, things will go better. Too many people just dump an older relative there and rarely show up. That won't work well for anyone. I have recommended St. Edward's to many of our friends. The is to be involved.
My dad was a resident in nursing care 3 years ago at the Village at St Edward in Fairlawn. He was there for rehab, and sadly his health took a turn for the worst, and didn’t make it home. I visited him every single day and cannot say it enough the outstanding care he received. The staff were very warm, and kind, and very patient with him as well as myself, and my family. When he passed the staff showed myself, and my family so much compassion, and love, it left a lasting impression. Fast forward, two years I knew I wanted to join the amazing team and be proud to be a part of the community that takes pride in their work. Walking in to work every day is like being surrounded by family, from staff and residents. I have never worked with such a loving and endearing group of people as I do here at St Edward in Fairlawn.
My father is in renal failure and had a heart attack earlier this Spring. He lived alone on a farm pretty far outside of town about an hour and a half from Akron. We needed to have him live closer so we can keep an eye on him. He is very independent so the Independent Living at St Ed’s is perfect for him. There are many activities he can participate in or not and rides provided by St Ed’s to his appointments. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and know almost all of the residents on a first name basis. Taking care of a senior parent is not something that is ever taught to you. It’s like learning a different language. The staff really goes the extra mile to help and teach you the ins and outs of taking care of a senior parent and making them feel at ease moving into St Ed’s. Putting my Dad into St Ed’s was one of the best things I have done for him.
The Village of St Edward at Fairlawn is an amazing facility. The admissions coordinator Jackie is kind, knowledgeable and has herself a long history in healthcare, starting out as an aide. Residents are cared for and appear very content. The feel of family begins at the door and just does not end!
