I'm impressed. As a private carer in the clinic, I follow my client through his days for safety. And safe it is. I have been to my client's apartment, and it's small but nice with amazing views and Very clean and attractive. I've even sampled the food, which was good. If my mom lived in CA, I'd have her check out the Tamalpias.
The club is getting better slowly. Replacing and updating has made a huge difference. The fees are a high but they offer lots of services so it is ok. But they have become so tight with the $ no guest passes even for long term family members. My Daughters College teammate visiting 5 days and they want another $40 on top of $230 each month for our family membership so her friend can work out 3 times while she is here. Treat members like this and rates will really go up as people leave
The employee named Francisco was very rude to my grandmother and I while visiting to consider if this place was a good fit for my grandmother. I am not sure why he was so rude about the parking garage but they need to have a serious talk with him about how he talks to possible residents.
The staff seem to truly care. This is like a village unto itself. It has 11 stories, medical care, meals, gym, entertainment, gardens. The residents can chose to make a massive amount of friends or be meditatively solo and productive in a quiet lifestyle on their own. Those whom I spoke with were highly intelligent, environmentally and politically conscious, and fascinating individuals to get to know. Those residents who are being compromised by health or memory issues can provide adjunct care in their own apartment. Since residents own their own apartment, there is a strong sense of community, of ownership, and it truly is a village. The building is 50 years old and has needed many repairs. So there have been frustrations, which are gradually moving in the right direction. But all in all, particularly with the views of the mountains and the San Francisco Bay, this is as high end a living situation as anyone can find on our planet earth.
