A friend of mine invited me to have lunch with her. I wasn't expecting to have how your staff treated the people that lived there. From the very friendly, very professional house maid, to the chef. Everyone was so respectful, and nice. They treated me as well as them. I didn't know how to act in dinning room, was like I was eating at a four star restaurant. All the wait staff was as good or better that any place in town.. I knew my friend was in good hands. Thank you all again... p.s my friend has no complaints!

The Rio is a truly excellent retirement community. The building is well decorated and maintained, light and airy (a major renovation was done in 2024). Management lives here, available 24/7. They are alert and caring. Activities are ongoing; attend or not, as you like. The grounds around the building are superb, including A Park Above, a huge and happy place. A dog park and a bocce ball court are adjacent. Hikers can walk miles along the Cabezon arroyo. Three meals a day are served in the elegant dining room and the food is wonderful, from chicken & waffles to superb prime rib. Life doesn't get any better!
It's a well kept property. Disappointed that Gary and Gina left - they were really a part of the community and very nice people. Had good experiences with the assistant managers (Scott and spouse)
My husband and I have been living at the Rio Grande for four months. The managers, Lisa and Lee and Shannon and Michael, provide the leadership that creates a true sense of warmth and community. These managers are very "hands-on," serving and cleaning tables and even serving as chefs, which is most unusual for administrators. They keep this ship sailing smoothly and hire the best people to maintain it.When any problems arise, they address them quickly and efficiently. We very much enjoy living here.
Beware: I went to drop some residents off and parked under the cover parking. I called about parking before hand and was told to park anywhere. Apparently their employees think other wise. In the process of waiting this car comes up and starts honking at me. He yelling at me to move and that I’m in his parking spot. I was unclear why I needed to move seeing that there aren’t designated parking. When I asked why and he said cause he was a resident and that was his parking spot. So I moved and parked in another post. He then proceeded to walk over to some other men working and pointed at me and they then moved their car right next to mine making it hard for me or anyone to get into my car. Which again forced me to move again. Come to find out this man is an employee and I guess that’s his favorite spot. So I guess scaring people out of the area is a common practice.. I’m curious if this man is always bullying and scaring people over a parking spot. I can’t imagine what he does to the residents. I have informed the residents that I talk to about the situation and hope that they have reported this person.
