My brother in law was a resident here for a year & a half and we were always pleased. Could not ask for a more caring & attentive staff. He was in the memory care building & the manor house & we were super pleased with both. They keep both buildings very clean. They were never shut down because of flu or anything while he was there. Very impressive. Staff is very approachable & addressed any concerns immediately. They also never hesitated to call us with concerns about his health needs. Highly recommended!!!

Average care. Every once in awhile, there is a diamond in the rough type worker that will brighten the day of the patients, but for most, it seems their work is minimum & they check boxes. The nursing home, wheel chaired patient that I visit often needs attention when I get there - either slumped over towards the floor, heat is too high like 75-80, soiled herself, needs water, would like her TV turned on, etc. The facility lost the patients glasses over a year ago. The patient cannot see her TV nor make out much distinction between food & faces without them. The facility did nothing to find them - they blamed the wheel-chaired, 93 year old lady who never leaves her room unless they move her chair to the dining table and then back. Then, they said there is nothing they can do because most doctors require a 20 person minimum to make a visit, and they can’t get that many people to sign up. How hard have they tried? Have they called all the local eye doctors? Have they called her doctor? Have they called all the families of all the patients to see if they would like an eye exam- I imagine Medicare pays for it. The comment said to me was, “The only doctor we can get 20 to sign up for is the podiatrist because everyone has toenails and no one wants to cut them.” The worker was attempting a joke, but it didn’t bring the glasses back. My last example of average / box checkers would be that there IS an activities calendar posted, but I’m not sure it’s always followed. I realize schedules can be impacted by illness, absences, accidents, and much more, and I do not visit as often as I would like, but the scheduled activity for today was not happening when I arrived nor was there an activity happening during my last visit. But since the patients appear clean, fed, and quiet, then I’m eating this an average facility.
Thanks to The Retreat for letting me be a part of your family. I met some fantastic people there!I hate I had to leave, but circumstances out of my control led me to the decision. You are ALL wonderful people!

I've been a resident of the Independent Living Community at The Retreat at Loganville since May 2022. I had lived in a senior living facility in Fredericksburg, VA for 5 years before moving here. I was considering several other senior living options in the area before selecting The Retreat. Michele Calhoun, Community Relations Director, did an awesome job of assisting me while I was still living in Virginia in overseeing the renovation of my cottage here and welcoming and assisting me after my move in. I've enjoyed the neighborhood setting and the residents have been very caring, friendly, and the staff great to work especially the two long time concierge staff members Terri and Jenny and the activities staff. Michael Mobley and the maintenance team and the housekeeping staff have also been very helpful. I would definitely recommend The Retreat at Loganville to anyone seeking a senior living facility in this area for their new home.
