We were very pleased with Renaissance. It is a beautiful residence in a setting of lovely gardens. The entrance hall is welcoming and tastefully decorated and provides a lovely venue for concerts that were enjoyable and of good quality. The staff is friendly, diligent, capable, and helpful. The hairstylist is very talented and gave our mother the most attractive, mood uplifting, haircut she has ever had. The facility is kept very clean and is pleasant with library nooks and exercise rooms and a comfortable dining hall. The staff made an effort to help our mother feel at home. All in all, we have only good things to conclude about our experience with Renaissance.

My mother was only there for about a month due to an increasing need to be in a nursing home. They approved her very quickly to be able to move in. Unfortunately though she had to relocate shortly after. But while she was at the Renaissance she received exemplary care. Everyone that works there was extremely accommodating, caring, understanding, and supportive. Its no wonder that the average age of the residents there is pretty high. They take excellent care of their residents. Cassandra is 100 percent heart and provides over-the-top care. No matter what time i called or texted with a concern she answered very promptly. It is without a doubt in my mind that they are the apex of what an assisted living facility should be not only in Florence, but everywhere. If I could give 8 stars I would.
I came to this community almost 2 years ago ( From Brookdale Cedar Springs in Decatur ) to be the interim Director until a new Executive Director could be found . Immediately I felt like I was at home , the staff and Residents were so welcoming and warm . It didn’t take long to know this was where I was called to be , and I have never looked back or been happier in my career as an Administrator. With the Residents, and staff we have here at The Renaissance of Florence our Assisted Living is a delightful and wonderful place to be !!!
The Renaissance of Florence changed lives in my family. I'll never be able to repay the kindness and expert care they've given my parents and all of the rest of our family, as well. My mother had been very sick and actually had to get strong enough to be accepted there and move in. I prayed for God to just get her strong enough to GET THERE, if even for just a few days. I wanted her to see what a beautiful facility, with good food, caring staff and constant attention awaited her ....what life could be like for her if we could just get her there. With encouragement from Cassandra Allen, she pulled her little 86-lb. self up and got out of rehab and joined my stepfather at Renaissance on January 30, 2018. Today, April 5, 2019, she weighs 104 lbs. and is more like herself than she has been since a massive heart attack 5 years ago this month. There is no other reason for this unbelievable improvement in her, than the care she has been given by every single person at Renaissance. My stepfather has also put well over 20 much-needed pounds back on since moving in. He turned 94 in December and Mama will be 94 (don't tell her I told you that!!!) on the 25th of this month. If ever there was a poster child for The Renaissance of Florence, it is my mother. She gets dressed and goes to visit her friends who also live there, goes to the dining room and has delicious, nourishing food and has more activiites offered to her than she can even get around to! On top of all that, I never dreamed we'd be able to afford what seems to me like luxurious care at The Renaissance of Florence, but we are actually paying less for 24 hour care, all things totaled, than having sitters in their home 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. I never, ever worry about my parents anymore. They're happy, we're happy, they're lovingly cared for, safe, and even entertained! As I said, all our lives have been changed, just when I wasn't sure I'd make it, much less my 90-something-yr-old parents! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Renaissance.
I was happy until recently. The company who took over and changed the name from Brookdale to Renaissance has started cutting corners and the quality has gone down! Salad bar disappeared, the dining room is no longer “restaurant style” where you can choose your food. Staff has been cut back, so the service has suffered. Dining with her friends is a big part of my mom’s day. She doesn’t enjoy it anymore. We are paying for a dining experience that no longer exists. Now I feel like I’m being ripped off! Most people won’t stay where they feel cheated.
