No one wants to have a loved one go into one of these places, but sometimes there is no choice. Is this place perfect? No. Have I had any complaints? A few. Have my complaints been addressed when I raised them? EVERY SINGLE TIME. I think it takes a special kind of person to be able to do the work that is done here and I give them a lot of credit. I could not do what they do. Special shout out to Dorothy who is an incredible advocate for her patients. When she sees something they need, she doesn't stop until she gets it.

I would like to say as a nurse who has worked in multiple disciplines it is refreshing to see and be part of a group of nurses and other healthcare workers who care and not just about the bottom dollar but the residents, there loved ones and their staff. This is one of the best environments I have been in. I can tell you to any loved one or resident we hear your concerns and are diligently working one making our term the best so that we can provide excellent care! The Pines absolutely wants the best for our residents!
The Pines is an immaculate clean nice nursing facility that renders excellent care. I would highly recommend placing a family member there for short term rehab and long term care as well. The food is good too. The staff are clean inputs and excellent. Pleasure to reside there.
If you love your family member, please don’t submit them to this terrible place. They should definitely be shut down until they can get their act together. My husband was there for rehab after hip replacement. Worst place we could have exposed him to. The hospital told us it was the best. They lied. He has a rare neurological disease and needs special care. Although they told me they were familiar with it they did not do ONE thing we specifically told them was important. He needs to sleep in a supine position otherwise his BP can raise dangerously high and cause a stroke. Nope, didn’t do that. Because of his disease he needs to go to the bathroom often. They don’t care. He waited for 20 minutes after pressing his call bell and decided he would have to go by himself. Once in the bathroom he lost his balance, fell and landed on the floor hitting the back of his head on the way down. He waited 3 hours on the cold floor and then crawled on his stomach until he got to his bed. That was early morning hours. When I arrived at 8:00 am I was shocked to see his arm all bandaged, his knees red as cherries, and his toes all cut up. I asked why I wasn’t called and they told me they didn’t want to disturb me. WHAT?!?!? And no one would come talk to me about it until 2 1/2 hours later. Then they wanted to give him medication the doctor had taken him off of a few days before. I told them he wasn’t supposed to take it and the nurse said she had to check. She came back and said yes, the doctor did take him off it but someone else prescribed it that day but it didn’t say who. Then the OT came in to bring him for therapy and he told them he was too sore to go. She told him if he refused therapy they were sending him home. (In hindsight I wish they did at that point) They didn’t even X-ray him to see how his hip was or his ribs that he bruised in the fall. We had to insist on it. I can go on and on. I walked in one day after they had given him his meal. They were told he needed to sit in a chair to eat because he has swallowing issues. They sat him on the edge of the bed and he had fallen backwards. Thank God he didn’t have food in his mouth. I rang the call button and it took them 25 minutes to come in. The speech/swallow therapist then had a highlighted note put on every one of his menus that he needed to be out of bed and in a chair to eat. On the next to last night he was there they again put him on the edge of the bed to eat. I asked the aide why she didn’t put him in a chair and that it was on the menu highlighted. She told me that didn’t matter. When I called her on it she started banging things around but did eventually put him in a chair. I told them after he was there 5 hellish days I wanted him released and they told me they wanted to keep him another 3 weeks. Over my dead body! Unfortunately I had to wait 4 days because it was “the weekend” and they couldn’t get approval to release him until that Monday and the paperwork would take another day. He came home Tuesday morning. With a bedsore on his bottom. But that’s another story for another time.
We participated in a Christmas gift program for some of the residents at the Pines. Everything was just done with care love and perfection. From helping us obtain a list to delivering the gifts to the residents. There is some new construction going on and the buildiing is looking fabulous. Everything is spotless and all the staff is wonderful. Just smiles and warm welcomes while we were there. You can tell that the residents were well cared for and happy. Just an all around great place.
