The workers in the memory ward was especially caring for my sister in law and the other clients there. The facility needs some renovations, especially in the bathroomd. The rooms are very spacious. My biggest complaint would be that my sister in law's clothes are always missing. The first visit, she was discharged and they were still looking for her clothes. They found everything but a pajama pants. The second time, we're missing a jogging suit, a sweatshirt and a top. It's been a week and we still don't have the items. We were never offered any type of compensation or an adjustment on her bill. I like bringing her there, but it's very concerning that we have to keep replacing clothes. This last visit, I even told them not to wash her clothes, but that may not be the problem this time.

A year and a few months ago, I had to find placement in a long term care facility for my mom. It is not something I wanted to do, but something I had to do. Already caring for my father that had Parkinsons and Dementia full time, I was unable as 1 person to care for him and for her. I took one look at the reviews and lost it. At the time, due to her psychological and physical needs, my choices were not many in regards to long term care. Seeing what people had written truly scared me. But my hands were tied. My mother has now been there for a year. I visit her multiple times a week and we speak on the phone multiple times a day. I will say, don't let the negative reviews get to you. The staff here is wonderful. For the most part, they are attentive and caring. They do their best to take care of the residents, and that is not an easy job...not in the slightest. Whenever issues have come up, the administration team takes care of it them promptly and stays in contact. There will always be bumps in the road, as nobody is perfect. But management does their best to mediate issues and keep the residents care at the forefront. According to my mom, the food could definitely use some help. The serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. And also offer a secondary menu if the main hot meals aren't scratching the itch of the resident that day. My mom can be a picky eater, but I was allowed to put a dorm fridge in her room and I keep it stocked with cold items like drinks and yogurt, chicken salad and sandwich items....I will say again, she can be picky (she owned a resturant for over a decade) but she has also recieved a grilled cheese sandwich that was a cold cheese sandwich multiple times. Take that as you will. Lol. The buildings are old and barring bring knocked down, there's not much they can do to change the structure of it. However, Housekeeping keeps the facility clean. Maintenance fixes issues that come up...and really the only thing I've seen is the cable going out a few times. Again, in an old building, I expect that. Their rehab services are available to residents and the rehab staff is excellent. They made an individual plan for my mom, with hopes that we can get her walking again (she had a knee replacement that she never recovered from). When it comes down to it, this is a for-profit facility. All nursing homes in the area are. And at the end of the day, this business needs to make a profit. I will say, for the most part, they don't do this at the expense of the residents. Always take others opinions with a grain of salt. Check the place out for yourself. And stay involved and present in your loved ones care.
This place helped us in a time of need in finding a permanent place for my sister. Temika went beyond to make the process go smoothly. All employees are very caring and compassionate in caring for residences. Always there for you if you ever have a question. My sister is doing so much better! God bless to everyone there.
I will start with the fact that this is a review in progress. My wife and I went touring different facilities to find a nursing home that is suitable to be home for my mom, who has Alzheimer's and dementia. I have experienced "BAD" nursing homes, and this does not appear to be one. My visit was not scheduled as I wanted a "real" feel for the atmosphere. Upon entry, after being greeted by the receptionist and sitting for maybe 5-10 minutes for the Admissions Director(A.D.) for our tour, I noticed that I DID NOT hear screams and moaning coming from patients. I DID NOT smell the unmistakeable odor of human waste. Temeka, the A.D. was very friendly upon greeting us, and immediately started to proudly show us the facility. The facility itself is an old building and it shows, but it is not run down. There were signs of updating and I inquired regarding the updates. The answer was that the "relatively new" administrator is working toward updating the entire facility and trying to give it a more "home"y feel as opposed to a nursing home feel. There are areas of the facility that still have the smell of an oldtime nursing home, however, it does NOT smell that way throughout. Aside from that, the facility was apparently being cared for. Now on to the staff. Our tour guide Temeka did not pass a single patient that she didn't interact with. There was an older gentleman in a wheelchair sitting in the hall, she stooped down to his level and said "Hola," and his reaction told me a lot.... He looked up and his face exposed a bright smile. In every patient interaction....we were not the focus and that's exactly how it should be. The patients came first. When visiting the designated "Memory Care" wing, we were able to meet several of the nurses and quite a few of the patients. The nurses were very sociable with us as well as the patients that would approach. While we were there, several patients came to the nurses station just to hang out with the nurses. It was comforting to see the faces of the patients as they interacted with the staff. While the decor in the "Memory Care" wing has not been updated and looks "drab".... something I hope that they do address in the near future, our family has decided to give The Pillars a chance. The decision is based upon many factors, but our visit was definitely a strong positive. This decision is not made lightly and as time goes on, I will revisit this review.
They are going down hill with the new Adminstrator. Can’t find a qualified maint man to even pump water out of parking lot. The outside lights don’t work . And I know the Ice Machines and nasty with bacteria. It’s a Dump . With new management .Its a sink hole. Can’t understand how the State of Ms lets it stay open . Drive around it , it’s a Dump.
