5 Stars - Best place to live if you are HOMELESS. Seriously, Park Lane has allowed a massive homeless encampment to grow and expand on their pro1perty for the last few years. Since it is private property and the actual company that owns Park Lane is not local, no one messes with you, not the property owners, the cops or the city! Also, plenty of old people living there who forget to lock their car doors at night and can't remember what was in their car that went missing. $$$ HOMELESS PARADISE! THANKS PARK LANE!

My parents moved into Park Lane in 2015 and were in independent living at that time, which was great for them. They picked Park Lane knowing that they would move up to assisted living and memory care until their final days. That did happen for both of them. My mom died last September and was in memory care for about 2 years. The care she received especially in her final days was absolutely horrible. There was a scabies outbreak in memory care a few months before her death. They said it was taken care of, however, it was not and because of that, my mom died a very miserable death because of still having scabies. Also, the housekeeping is horrible. Her room was often very dirty and we would have to ask to have it cleaned or clean it ourselves which we did often. When her clothes were taken to the laundry, often came back with someone elses clothes and some of hers were missing. We marked them all with her name but that didn't seem to matter. We were also going through briefs and wipes at an alarming rate and were told by a caregiver that if someone else on the floor runs out they will "borrow" from some other resident. Never resupplied my mom. Once Hospice came in, she was completely ignored and we were told that "she is on Hospice now" That doesn't mean you should ignore her since Hospice was only going to come twice a week. Yes, she died a week later but I had to ask them to check her brief, roll her over etc. She was also having trouble swallowing so we needed to have "soft" food. They weren't bringing her any food at all and when I asked a caregiver to please bring her something, they brought her pureed food of what the other residents had for breakfast. Sausage, eggs and french toast pureed! It looked and smelled awful. I then went and got her some applesauce and she was very happy. In closing, I do think that since Pacifica has taken over, the lack of care and cleanliness has gone downhill fast.
My wife Amy & I have been living happily unassisted at The Park Lane for three years. We live in a Chalet (outlying apartment structure). We especially appreciate: Food Service - Excellent & improving table service, wide variety of menu items, attention to nutritional needs, seating flexibility. Residents can readily accommodate their personal dining preferences Grounds & Facilities - Spacious & varying common use areas, beautiful trees & abundant landscaping, improving attention to repairs & upgrades. Staff - Friendly, alert & very accommodating. Location - Convenient to downtown & various shopping venues. Transportation - In-house limo service as well as public bus & taxi/ride service. In-house transportation has Sometimes been limited by staffing needs, but overall, very useful. Rent cost - Although we haven't done any recent comparative shopping, others indicate that The Park Lane is very competitive with other senior living facilities on the Monterey Peninsula. Overall - the effects of Covid, inflation, & job market fluctuations have caused some concerns during our residence, but in recent months & the arrival of our current executive director, we have seen distinct improvements in staffing & attention to maintenance , enhancement of the property & attention to resident needs. We really enjoy living here.
My uncle has been a resident at the park lane in monterey, CA for 3 years. He had a heart attack a few days ago and no one reached out to let his immediate family know that he was taken away in an ambulance. They said they couldn’t find an emergency phone number at the front desk which is insane ! They didn’t bother to try to find one in his file either. My uncle managed to call my father from the hospital. Had he not, we would not have known. Upon calling the manager Aron Windbigler, I was informed that they had no responsibility to call anyone if one of their residents had a medical emergency if they live in the independent living floors. So our sense of security knowing if something happened, we would be notified, was incorrect, and essentially my uncle might as well be living in a regular apartment building. Furthermore, they have emergency call buttons in the apartments (which have not been working for months by the way),and when I reminded Aron of this he said they are there because the independent living floors used to be assisted living apartments. So being told by The Park Lane that these buttons are essential for keeping residents safe, was clearly a lie. My uncle luckily is recovering from the heart attack but I don’t know how we can continue to have him live in place that falsely presents itself as a place that cares for its residents be they in assisted living or independent living. BEWARE: DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!
I have been coming to the park lane to visit my friend for years. I have been so impressed by the sudden improvements that have been made. The new Executive Director seems to really care about the residents and it shows. She is by far the best one the park lane has seen!
