We recently moved my mother into The Palms Gracious Living to improve her opportunity for interaction, more independence, and to not have to take care of a larger home. The activity calendar surpasses any other Community we looked into, the staff is warm and attentive to both my mother and our family, and the process of obtaining a residence was smooth and transparent. It is a very welcoming environment and engaging to new residents. The staff is readily available at any time to answer questions, help with the move-in process, and help with daily needs for your loved one. The community as a whole is clean and well-maintained, and the residents who live there are friendly and welcoming. I posted a few pictures of my mother’s one bedroom apartment. She has a large one bedroom of 560 square ft. We did some DIY in her apartment to give it an updated look - covering the wood cabinets with white peel and stick paper and added some battery operated lights. We also built an additional cabinet to create more storage. The size of the one bedroom is perfect for my mom, and she is really thriving after her first month there. She is actively engaged in the activities and she is seeing some improvement with her memory since moving in. 6 month Update: My mother has now lived at The Palms Gracious Retirement Living for 6 months and I wanted to add an update. This community continues to be exceptional. My mother routinely raves about the owners Vicki and Robbie and their involvement and dedication to the residents. She also routinely raves about the staff in general - everyone from the activities coordinator to the serving and cleaning staff. She has made several friends and she excitedly tells me about their interactions every time we chat. The community regularly hosts experiences for the residents (Super Bowl Party, Christmas and NYE party, regular themed months honoring different countries, most currently it was Italy, which includes a variety of activities related to that country, etc.). I most currently dropped by unannounced at dinner time and surprised my mom. I sat for dinner with her and her friends and they shared that after dinner they were planning to "go to the movies" after dinner... which was a film being shown in the movie theater at the community. I asked if they could bring popcorn and they all nearly shouted in enthusiasm, "you don't have to! They pop it at the theater!". My heart continues to be filled each time I speak to my mother and hear about her life in her new home. My siblings and I were very uncertain about the move, but today, we are very certain that the move to The Palms was the absolute best thing we could have done for our mother. She has all the support and community she needs there, but also has her own life still, allowing her to maintain some of her independence. We looked at 5 different communities when considering where mom would live. Overwhelmingly, The Palms was the top choice then and continues to be.

The Palms at La Quinta Gracious Living has far exceeded our families expectations! Our father is soon to be 89 years and has been welcomed to the independent lifestyle. Dad has met many new friends and routinely informed us how much he is enjoying his time here at the Palms La Quinta. The transition for dad has been seamless. Dawn, Robbie, Vikki and the entire staff worked tirelessly to provide top-notch service. Their dedication to professionalism is Over-the-Top! The communication of daily events, celebrations and activities are fabulous. The facility is always neat, clean and prepared in such a organized fashion. We really appreciate the job that you all do. We are so thankful to have found you. We are most appreciative for all you do!! From the bottom of our hearts, Thank you, Ron & Debi.
When I retire I know where I'm going yall! Robbie and Vikki have the heart of gold! The care and compassion that they gave my parents is nothing short of an angel here on earth! From activities to holiday decorations and food selection...made my parents feel like they were right at home. I could not ask for more for the care of my parents that took such good care of me. If you want the best for your life or the life of a loved one...this is the place to be!
We searched the desert area for months before choosing The Palms at La Quinta for my father-in-law. After his wife of over 60 years passed we knew he needed to be closer to family and living somewhere he felt at home and safe. Yet we wanted him to have his independence that is so important to him at this stage in life. Some places we visited were so depressing just to walk into and many did not have a welcoming atmosphere or that good “home” feeling we were looking for. We knew we had high expectations and didnt want to just “settle” for any old place. After touring and researching many retirement living homes we can honestly say from the very first step into The Palms at La Quinta we knew this was it! From the open and airy feel of the entry to the Elegant dining room, upon walking in our first words were simply , “Wow!” After our tour with Robbie and meeting his wife Vicki(who both live on permises!) we could tell how much they cared for the residents and well being of everyone. Sometimes you just know right away who are “good people”. We were very impressed with the amenities too! From the gorgeous pool to the huge welcoming library ,with a fireplace, a large gym area and so many gathering/sitting areas for casual relaxing or playing games, puzzles or just people watching, it was awesome! When we saw the movie theater we looked at eachother and said we would be watching movies there every day! (It is a real movie theater with their own popcorn machine too!) Did I mention there is an ice cream machine available 24/7? Another important deciding factor was, obviously, location! The views from The Palms at La Quinta are incredible. Morning sunrises and gorgeous sunsets all surrounded by beautiful mountains. Also being so close to the shopping, grocery stores and doctors that he could drive to was perfect. He still has his car but The Palms at La Quinta offers shuttle services anywhere the residents need to go, so when the time comes we know he will stil be able to go places on his own. The residents are very welcoming and it really does feel like family. They check in on each other, keep tabs on one another and help eachother however they can. From week one he was there he was invited to so many different activities offered. One of the first things he said to us after his first week was, “No one will ever be bored here!” And the food is Amazing! The options and choices daily are incredible. Not to mention the chef makes everything from scratch right on the premises. We ask if he wants to go out to eat with us and every time he says “nah, you guys come here and eat with me!” The wait list for the “right” accomadations for him was suprisingly quick. We knew what he wanted as far as size and which floor so Robbie placed us on the waitlist and we thought it would be 6 months before he would call us. But within a couple weeks Robbie called and showed us a couple different places and within 2 months we had him settled into his perfect home. The best feeling was hearing him say “I just love it here”. That was 6 months ago and just this past weekend he again told us how happy he was living at The Palms in La Quinta. We are very pleased to have The Palms at La Quinta as his home and know it really is the best place in the desert for him.
"My cheeks are rosy and I am walking better!" is a direct quote from my 87 year old mother who has been living at The Palms At La Quinta Gracious Retirement Living for more than a month now. She was previously living in an independent senior living community in South Carolina. Moving to The Palms has been life changing to say the least. On site managers Vicki and Robbie, Dawn (marketing manager), Stephanie (activities coordinator) and Lenny (concierge) make an amazing team. All of them have welcomed my mother in such a way she feels at ease asking questions and for help. This was not the case at her previous community and she basically stayed in her room for most of the day. Dawn set her up with an "ambassador" who sat with her during the first few days of meals. This is very important because going to a meal alone at a new place can cause a lot of anxiety. She likes the fact there is an array of activities like Spanish class, sing along, etc. and wonderful events. There is good energy in the community and you can feel it right away. She believes her cheeks are rosy because she is eating better. What you read online about the food is very true. Being served restaurant style makes the meal like an event. There are many choices and she tells me every day what she ate! Having on site managers is a very big deal. At her previous location the manager would leave at 5:00pm M-F and college kids sat in the front lobby. Having Robbie and Vicki on site is very comforting. There are many excellent reviews here and I can say they are true. The rooms are very nice and the apartment complex is pristine. I would definitely recommend The Palms at La Quinta Gracious Retirement Living.
