209 Merriman Rd, Akron, OH 44303, United States
The Merriman is truly a gem nestled in Akron, not just for its exceptional care services, but also for its beautifully preserved historical architecture that gives the building so much charm and character. Walking through its halls feels like stepping back in time, with elegant details that remind you of a different era — a rare and comforting atmosphere in today's world. My daughter works here, and hearing about her experiences only deepens my admiration for this place. The staff are some of the kindest and most compassionate people you’ll meet. It’s clear that they genuinely care for the residents and treat everyone like family. That warm and supportive environment doesn’t just benefit those living there — it’s uplifting for the team as well. The Merriman isn’t just a facility; it’s a community built on respect, care, and history. I’m incredibly proud my daughter is part of such a special place.

As l love the Merriman, the family oriented Al and Nursing residence. I am new, but l have met some really kind and genuine nice employees and residents. People are always smiling and happy here, makes HR run smoothly. Activities are a dream here. There is always a celebration for both residents and employees. From what l see, the employees take pride in there work everyday. Happy to be here!!!!
The Merriman cares for many residents from many walks of life and the staff works extremely hard to meet their needs. The managers and clinical team have a very open door policy for residents and their families and I've seen them there well after hours and on the weekends helping in any way they can. Nurses are very helpful and will answer any questions you have.
My sister was there for a short time recovering from a seizure. It's a beautiful building from the outside but once you get to the nurse station area it's not good at all they do nothing to control the smells, lazy unprofessional staff, and only two of them were actually helpful and trying to do their job everyone else was sitting around playing on their phones doing nothing. It's definitely not a good look for the merriman and there needs to be some significant changes with staff. get people to come work at the Merriman that actually care and do their job. Sitting behind a desk playing with your phone and having a silly look on your face when someone asks a question like they're bothering you is childish and unprofessional
I was driving down merriman at 944 am april 25th. A women was out front in a wheel chair in the middle of the street in the rain. I called the facilty twice so they could come get her out of the road so she wouldnt get hit by a car. 1st time rang and rang, no answer. Second time someone picked up the phone, and hung up on me. I drove back around to get her out of the road, and she was gone. Hopefully they were busy looking for her, and thats why they couldnt take my call. Since the staff isnt conserned about resident safety, and cant answer the phone i had to call the akron police department to check on her. Whoever is the nurse, and aid on duty should be ashamed of their negligence.
