*Unfortunately my loved one passed away last year and trying to get a refund from this facility has been a nightmare. Changing my review to one star because of this. Nobody should have to deal this on top of grieving for a loved one. We toured multiple locations while trying to find the perfect place for my dad and immediately knew the The Meadows at Escalante was it! Their staff is professional, patient and caring. They are always kind and make time to provide updates. The building itself is light, bright and good energy so we enjoy spending time there. It's clean, well maintained and secure. They offer many activities for the residents and show genuine compassion for everyone. This transition has been hard for me and my family but knowing he is in good hands takes a lot of weight off my shoulders. I strongly recommend this facility!

This facility seemed like a good and caring and integrity based facility. While our mother was there she was treated well and seemed to have been given reasonably good care. However, since she passed away last July, they have been unwilling to give us the small refund of only 1700 dollars. They have been very good at passing around the blame regarding why they haven't issued the refund, but disappointing and frustrating in their treatment of our family in the aftermath. If this facility is so financially strapped that it cannot issue a small refund, then I am led to question the management's ability to direct the center and even care for its patients. Sincerely, Frustrated customer. 😠
We scheduled a visit for my father. I called thirty minutes prior to confirm, and nobody answered the phone. When we arrived, nobody assisted us. I called the main line again while sitting in the lobby. The phone at the reception desk rang. No staff came. I inquired with kitchen staff and was told "maybe the receptionist is in the bathroom." For twenty minutes? There were a couple elderly residents walking around the lobby - seeking assistance. They too were ignored by staff. Based on first impressions - I will not be placing anybody that I love at The Meadows.
Cory Jenkins Director of sales took care of us, “the family “and our mother, right from the get-go. I highly recommend The Meadows at Escalante.. The nursing staff, “med techs”, housekeepers, the CNA‘s , the whole staff “hospice / comfort care - “Renew” all get a A+ +.. they were very “attentive and professional employees!” My whole family felt very comfortable with our “prized possession “ in their care!
In a phrase “section 8 housing for the elderly”. This place is everything and worse that I had heard of over the course of time from people. The woman on the memory care side who was accidentally shut in the freezer and later died due to hypothermia was just one victim of many who've endured various forms of suffering due to the many problems with this place. That never should have happened! Other places in town have digital keypads to get in or out so NO ONE ever finds themself in dangerous places like a commercial walk in freezer unless they know the code and are supposed to be there! PERIOD! It's a simple fix for such a blatantly obvious danger. You'd think considering this is their business they'd see these glaring problems and preemptively fix them, but nope. I only mention that issue because it was recent and it points to a larger problem with the way this place is run. It's the same thing with the water. It was out for long periods of time....intermittently....sometimes with no warning...and no rush to get it fixed. For anyone that would be a huge priority and massive inconvenience, but especially the elderly in need of assistance for daily living and washing etc. Yet they let it linger on. It seems like nothing gets done! I still don't know if they've permanently fixed that problem. The road is still ripped up where they dug for the water main and it hasn't been repaved. That's been like a month now! This place feels like a ship wandering at sea with no one at the helm. The Meadows at Escalante should be embarrassed by the way they run that place. The delays and lack of leadership is unbelievable. Inept and incompetent are the words that come to mind. This shouldn't be that hard with strong focused leadership. Hire or fire people if need be, and get it done already. Elderly people NEED decisive leaders to run their lives and put them in order because they can't. That's what they're paying you for. Some of the workers are kind and wonderful but overall, everyone knows it's kind of a dump so there’s a lethargy about the place. Many times there's no nurse at all on staff and it's usually like one or two medical assistants, and one med tech holding down the fort and running the entire place. If you're self sufficient and willing to pay exorbitant prices for a place to live where a skeleton crew cooks your meals, gives you your meds, does your laundry, and takes out the trash once a week, sure. But if that's the case why not stay in your own place, get a house cleaner once a week, and order your food delivered while saving a pile of money? Or maybe get a roommate who'll do that in return for staying in an extra bedroom? Rent is expensive these days and people will most likely find that a fair trade. It's the medical care where you're going to have problems. The quality of the care here really is hit and miss depending on who's working and how much help you need. I'm sad to say the rumors are mostly true. Under staffed...apathetic...and unwilling to help for the most part. I won't go into detail here so as to remain anonymous but RUN! I feel horrible for the few great workers here. Even they will admit the place is not what they hope it to be. Many of them have now left due to the problems. Management has changed, cut back hours and costs and workers have abandoned ship because they know it's most likely not possible to save The Meadows. Don't get me wrong, every place has it's issues, but this one is legit "failing". I'm sure they’ll say "not all patients have negative experiences"... "These situations are not common"..."your mileage may vary"...etc etc. But the whole experience has been a major pain and inconvenience. Whether you believe me or not, just do yourself a favor and look elsewhere if you can. If you can’t, move in with your eyes wide open and don't say someone didn't warn you, or God didn't send you a beacon of light to give you direction in the midst of darkness about such an important decision to be made about your life, or loved one.
