I think this is a nice facility. I don't think it should be considered a rehabilitation center or a skilled nursing facility. This is an assisted living facility. They don't push the residence to participate in the rehabilitation process. What I observed is they stop when the residence doesn't want to follow the process. The people who are there most likely don't want to be there. They need to be motivated and have the mindset that if they follow the process they can get back home to their loved ones. I feel that the caregivers are responsible for more residents then they can actually care for.

My husband was at The Laurels for short term rehab following back surgery. The facility was clean, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone we encountered exemplified care and compassion. Housekeeping, dietary, nursing and rehab frequently ensured all of his needs were met. I had researched several facilities prior to his admission and was very pleased with our choice.
It was a rocky start but from the next day forward, everything was great! No complaints. Food is excellent. Nursing is very caring.
My mom was at the Laurels of Pender for short term rehab after she fell and broke her hip. She was well taken care of and the facility was clean.
I had a wonderful experience in rehab at the Laurels. The food was tasty and the staff was professional, knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. If I need further care, I would definitely go back there.
