200 Kellie Dr, Smithfield, NC 27577, United States
My husband was there for 30 days. He was not cleaned when I went to see him, they would not come get him and help him to the dining room . My husband has dementia and was treated horrible, plus he had bed bug bites all over his back. They kicked him out after 30 days because they did not have the staff or time to take care of him. The doctor on call never saw him in the 30 days he was there and never got his medication right! Every time I went and it was everyday to bri ng him food because he had lost so Much weight . The food was always cold and not good at all! I was told I would receive my refund for the month of November minus the 6 days and to this day I have not received my refund. I called the corporate number they provided and still have not received a call or my refund. All you can do is leave messages. I have contacted the Attorney Generals office . Please don’t let your love ones stay at this facility they will not take care of them! It horrible !!!

Well, I have been putting off a review for a long time and now it has come to this... Summary: understaffed and poor management... 1. Dirty room. Housekeepers are supposed to clean every day... there has been dirt piling up in my dads room for at least a week or more. 2. Dirty bathroom. Urine smell and dirty shower again not cleaned regularly 3. My dad slept for a couple days with no sheets on his bed on a blood stained mattress cover. Why? Because CNAs didn't notice? and never followed through with putting them on even though there were clean sheets in the dresser AND WE SPECIFICALLY ASKED THEM TO DO PUT THEM ON, yet a couple days later, still not on. 4. I cannot tell you how many times their phone system has not worked over the past year. You cannot get through without calling 10+ times... also very unstable internet. 5. Lawn is full of weeds and overgrown. I know, not a big deal right... but where is all the money going if they are not fully staffed and can't even pay for mowing the lawn? 6. I cannot tell you how many directors we have gone through over the past 5 years... they burn out and I'm sure are overwhelmed by the problems... 7. No more activity director? Staff is asked to bring their own activity supplies and use their own cell phones (due to phone system problems) 8. There is no one stationed in the lobby or lobby area, so sometimes you will stand outside ringing the doorbell for 10+ minutes. (not fun in winter) This review is a long term analysis, we have been dealing since 2021 and it has been a steady decline of care/management. There are definitely good employees, but you can only do so much when not given the resources and staff needed. I cannot in good conscience let other people put loved ones here if they don't know the problems they will encounter. We are now starting to look elsewhere unfortunately...
*I have been trying for two days to get someone on the phone. I left a message 4 days ago. Not returned. *Residents are eating out of paper, Styrofoam and plastic. *My mother reported that a shower head was loose and it was not repaired. It eventually fell on her and bruised her hand. *My mother called for help after falling to her knees and could not get up. A staff member said she'd need help to get her up. The staff member left and never came back. Mom finally dragged herself to a chair and spent the night in a chair. *These are a few of the things that have happened in the past year at at the Landings. * Some staff members have been very kind but there is clearly room for improvement especially in the area of communication.
I'm giving the Landings Assisted Care of Smithfield NC a 1 because although the staff seem to care in front of us, it's the long list of inadequate care that continually goes on when we just show up. Medication given without our knowledge ( with serious reactions to) medication not given when prescribed (antibiotics for UTI) . Not getting my Mother in Law up for her meals is concerning, found this when arrived, how many days does this go on when we don't show up? . She is diabetic, not eating regularly is a problem. Poor management. Just what does assisted mean?
My 92-year old dad went to The Landings in July 2020. Regretfully he passed on 1/1/21. While he was there the staff treated my dad extremely well. The med techs really liked my dad so much they called him "grandpa". My dad suffered from dementia and slept alot and had to use a wheel chair to get around. The Landings staff were very observant in watching out for my dad so much so that he didn't have any serious incidents of falling unlike he did at a previous Assisted Living Facility. Due to Covid, the majority of my interaction with him was by phone. Some of the staff would actually call me when my dad was awake so that I could talk to him. They regularly kept me updated on his status and I appreciated that. I would have no problems recommending The Landings to anyone with and elderly person requiring Assisted Living.
