I was very optimistic about this community after touring it with my Mother, 91, a long time Liverpool resident. Our point of contact person and guide, who has since left, was so welcoming and helpful and we happily decided this was the place for Mom. After moving into a 2 bedroom apartment, it quickly became apparent that the apartment was a very challenging distance from the dining room and other common activity areas of the buildings. Our contact person suggested we get her a scooter. Yay! Excitedly delivered the shiny new scooter on Labor Day weekend only to be told as we wheeled it into the lobby that it must remain parked in Mothers apartment until she passes a quote safety course endquote. Okayyyy…..Long story short, a woman who was driving a car only several months earlier was walked endlessly beside an occupational therapist up and down the halls for over three months with no end in sight or end to her safety course. By early December, wearing thin on this, I was visiting and took Mother down to the parlor on her scooter accompanied by me, and was rudely asked to join one if the staff in her office. After following her down a hallway like an errant fourth grader, I was told that apparently I did not understand that Mother could not use her scooter without a member of the staff with her. Asking when in fact she might conclude this training and be free to use the scooter to get to meals and other activities, I was informed that she might likely never be. Okay, at that point, I had had anough and made other living arrangements. My Mother is now living nearer to us in a nearby city, in a newer, more affordable community and been happily zipping around her new home, unaccompanied and with not a single issue for over three months now. Goodbye Greenpoint, no love lost here. Be sure you know what you getting and do your homework before making any decisions for your loved one, especially if you are new to the search for elder care and senior communities. I stand by my every statement of this review and would happily share this experience with anyone that asks.

Everyone has been so warm and welcoming upon my mom’s recent move to The Hearth at Greenpoint. Skip, Shania and maintenance personnel have bent over backwards to help my mom iron out all her concerns. Terri the dining room manager has been such a wonderful and loving team member. The food tastes home cooked and is terrific. My mom’s apartment is well appointed, cozy and perfect for her and her pet cat
Their patients keep escaping in the night and disturbing the neighborhood. I only post this because it’s a real tragedy when an elderly man with dementia is locked outside in 38 degree weather in his underwear screaming for help for hours and no staff comes to their aid. My husband had to go drive around and find out where the screaming was coming from and eventually find someone (which was very challenging because no phone numbers worked and no one answered any doorbells) to rescue the suffering patient. This is the second night in a row that this has happened, and it’s happened multiple times in the past 5 years we’ve lived around here. These facilities are nicer and have undergone serious renovation in the past years, but the lack of staff and the way the patients escape is disheartening and scary. Hope this gets addressed by management.
Touching Hearts at Home work closely with Skip and Alison and they are always so helpful and compassionate. We have a client at The Hearth at Greenpoint and our staff are treated with the utmost respect. The facility is accommodating and have wonderful activities for our client and care partner to participate in. Greenpoint periodically brings community resources in for networking events, which we take part in and it's always amazing. We thank you for all you do.
Our company has partnered with Skip Collins and and the team at Greenpoint for quite some time. I’m always impressed with the atmosphere and the family environment they’ve created. Just needed to express gratitude and admiration for the work you do every day. It can’t be easy, however your professionalism and grace really is recognized.
