Always good to see a great lineup of entertainment and events that the residents have going on, and always great to see some familiar faces, and new ones, in the crowd each time. I have had wonderful interactions with the staff at Harmony. Krystal and her staff are so helpful and she plans such wonderful events for the residents. I have had the pleasure of working with her during these events as a vendor, and everything is set up so nicely. The residents seem to really enjoy the activities she puts together.
I am a musician and have been to Harmony many times to sing for the residents' Friday Happy Hour. Krystal Stephens, the Campus Life Enrichment Director, is an absolute gem to work with. She communicates well with a refreshingly cheerful attitude. She and her assistant, Pat, always have things festively prepared, making for a splendid hour of music and fun.
I saw other reviewers describe this place as a dumpster fire and that is a spot on description. They can’t keep staff at any level. They don’t answer phones and can’t follow through on simple requests such as providing a medication list for a medical appointment. Don’t schedule transportation for medical appointments, as they just won’t take your loved one. Don’t bother to make a salon appointment, if your loved one is memory impaired, they just let your loved one miss the appointment. Do not keep anything valuable there, as it will be stolen if your loved one is memory impaired. Don’t take in incontinence supplies, as they will distribute those to other residents as they please. Then they will promise to reimburse you for it and never reimburse. Don’t bother writing your name in clothes or towels, as they disappear anyway. Then they will promise to reimburse you for all of your loved one’s towels that are missing and never do it, even after you provide a receipt for the replacement. They will continually let your loved one sit in soiled diapers, as you can tell by the overwhelming urine smell in memory care. (We learned when we toured other facilities that overwhelming urine smell in memory care is NOT normal). The upper management makes false promises and talks a good game to your face. But to get them to follow through, to answer a phone call, or to answer an email is impossible. Don’t be fooled by the calendar of activities for memory care. The reality is they sit your loved one in front of a TV all day. They claim all of assisted living activities are available to memory care residents, but that is only if you are there to escort them to and from. There is absolutely no accountability in this facility. Positive things about The Harmony…the building is attractive, nicely decorated, and clean (memory care not so much). Also, there were some great staff members at the facility that really treated my mom wonderfully. Unfortunately, these staff members could not do it all and the incompetent leadership stood in the way. I truly regret that my mom lived here, but we have learned so much and have her in a much better place. I do not recommend Harmony at Hanover.
Here there. I just wanted to tell you again how festive Harmony looked yesterday. Mom’s eye lite up as she looked at every tree! Yesterday was very special! The Thanksgiving meal was delicious!
