Vendors Beware – Late Payments & No Accountability I performed at here and had to file a small claims case just to get paid—six months late. Despite multiple follow-ups, they ignored their responsibility until legal action forced them to pay right before the court date. Unprofessional and unacceptable. Vendors, think twice before working with them.

My 89 year old mother moved in at the end of January. The Amsterdam was great with all the assistance they provided. I feel that she is safe and appears to be happy there. They have been great in the way they are handling toe COVID19 response and have controlled any potential spread to the best of their ability. I don’t have to worry about my mother not having enough food and supplies. They are doing zoom programs to engage the residents and providing updates to the residents and family members.
I am solely commenting on the food. When my parent's moved in 6 years ago the food was terrific. The past year has been a disaster. It went from top quality food to cafeteria quality. Some meals are simply inedible. Although residents pay high monthly fees, management is unwilling to listen to the legitimate complaints by residents. The Amsterdam used to have their own chefs. Recently SODEXO has taken over. They supply hospital cafeterias, college cafeterias & Nursing Homes. I am writing this review because it is simply unacceptable that the food has gone from excellent to poor in less then as year. It is unfair to the residents who bought into these apartments and pay high amounts of money every month for services & meals. The food should be top quality as it was when they first moved in. Something needs to change!!
Ever since the COVID outbreak happened, the staff at The Amsterdam have been on top of the situation, providing crucial leadership and informed communication. They have taken, and continue to take, a very sensible approach to protecting our parents and all residents under their care, while still arranging for support staff and crucially needs aides to help during this most stressful time. This situation can be very disorienting and depressing for anyone, especially the elderly who benefit so much from usual social contact. Thank you to the administrative, dining room, and maintenance/housekeeping staff who have selflessly kept the Amsterdam functioning so well.
We are writing to compliment the management and staff if the dining room at the Amsterdam at Harborside. Last Thursday we hosted a birthday dinner in the private Sandpiper Room within the dining facility for a family member who lives there. We made the arrangements through Omar and Scarlet. Luwam provided our family excellent service at the table. The food was well-presented and delicious. The entree options and sides offered a wide array of choices for this multi-generational gathering. There was something to please everybody including vegetarians. In all respects, it was a lovely celebration for which we thank Omar and his staff. We would be remiss if we didn't mention Brenda whose warmth and kindness makes every meal special for our mother/grandmother/great-grandmitherJoan. ❤️
