My mother has been living here for 15 months now. Feel so fortunate for the care given to her at The Gardens. All facilities like this have staff turnover from time to time, but honestly, it hasn't been an issue during her time there. Almost everyone, from resident care to the dining staff, help to look after her as her dementia issues advance. We live with 15 minutes away and engage with the staff often. This helps, but their special care gives us tremendous peace of mind.

We recently moved my mother here from another Assisted living community in Virginia Beach. When we were looking for a new place, The Gardens came highly recommended so we checked it out. Wendy Williams met with us showed us around, showed us rooms in both Assisted living and Memory care, explained their operations and mission and, provided the costs, availability and timelines. Wendy was very profession but you could tell she is also very passionate about what she does and compassionate for her residents. Since moving my mother in I have seen this to be true of the rest of the staff. I receive calls and feedback from the staff on how my mother is doing. When shed had a major decline in her condition, they moved her over to Memory Care, and I didn't have to do anything. I know my mother is well cared for and appreciate how she is being cared for. The food is one weak spot, it could be a bit better but otherwise I fully recommend The Gardens at Virginia Beach.
My husband and I looked at many, many assisted living facilities and The Gardens of Virginia Beach was our hands down favorite. Wendy Williams who is the client liaison is wonderful.. She is patient and understanding and very professional. The place itself is very homey and feels more intimate than most of the others. I highly recommend The Gardens
We moved my Uncle out two weeks ago. He wanted to be closer to Norfolk. We had our ups and downs with some staff but Susan and Wendy always took care of the problem. My uncle nicknamed Susan “Speedy” as she was always on the go and you hardly ever saw her sitting still. They were fair in pro rating rent and other overpriced fees. They also saved my uncle from going into a rehab facility for 6 weeks. I walked the beach and prayed and when I got back to the facility I ran into Wendy and my prayers were answered. My Uncle only had two weeks of rehab and did great. Wendy was a lifesaver. There were management changes that needed to be done and I think things will level out now. The kitchen (food) needs a little help but other than that it’s a great place. No matter where you go there are going to be problems which we had some but yet they were handled.
My one hundred year old Grandma lives here with assistance from the staff at the Gardens. Grandma is happy with the ladies that come in each morning and get her cleaned and dressed for the day. Oftentimes she is brought down to the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner where she sits with other residents. Grandma is not learning new friends as they are all seated at tables to meet each other. Our family is pleased with Grandma's living quarters and the care she is given.
