This is a Horrible place to leave your loved one, there's not a good communication between staff and family of a loved one, the Doctor is never seen or the Social Worker. I left my Mother there because that was the place she was accepted but I took her out the next day and she was discharged with out a Doctors orders for medication, I had to wait for Monday to get order signed by her Primary Doctor, they should close down this place, Hygiene is absent, looks depressing rooms are not clean as they look in the pictures rooms are not prepared for a loved to rest.

Update: Day 2. Still no phone call to inform us he’s in the hospital. Update: when your loved one is transported to the hospital, you won’t get a phone call. My sister went to visit my dad today to find he had been taken to the ER. My mother, his spouse and his person for communications, has not yet received a phone call and neither have I. We have no idea when he was taken or what for. Do not send your loved ones here. The whole building smells. All the time. There’s zero communication. You won’t know what’s going on with your loved one unless they are able to tell you, even if you are their person. Wives are left in the dark about their husbands, and phone calls do not get returned. Good luck finding the on site social worker too. You’ll always get voicemail and calls are never returned with her either. They tell me my father is of sound mind but have never done a psychological evaluation. He hasn’t even had a conversation with one. His whole family knows he needs it. I’m deeply disappointed and no one else should go through this. I’ll add photos of their version of “cleanliness” when I can. Unfortunately you won’t understand how bad the smell is unless you go there. I can’t even describe how bad it is. Edit to add: now we have a situation where Dad tells me he made a request after the social worker told me he requested the opposite. Is this why there’s no communication? Did anyone even ask him in the first place? Who knows?? There’s zero oversight. They do things without witnesses on purpose. Including moving them to different rooms. Again PLEASE, do not put your loved ones here if you want to keep your sanity.
My mom is in the hospital right now, she was unable to feed herself and they didn't help her eat or drink anything for 2 days. I've been there visiting and they will sit the food on the table and leave it there knowing some people can't feed themselves. They need to be investigated.
Of course nursing homes get a bad reputation most of the time but that does not mean they are all around bad. Nursing home experiences are going to be different from person to person. You can provide excellent service, but people will find something to be upset or complain about. It’s life. However, there are staff at the gardens at camp hill that do an excellent job and deserve more recognition. I have been to the building on numerous occasions through out the past few years and I have encountered many many nice staff. Even residents are willing to stop and say hello, and hold a friendly conversation. I had a great experience with the nurse Lorraine. She is always smiling, laughing and very knowledgeable when it comes to different residents. I’ve seen residents having a good time and doing numerous fun activities. I’ve been checking out the Facebook page and all the residents appear to be having a good time. Tracey on first floor also deserves recognition for her friendly and positive attitude. The list could go on but I do not know many names but the managers, nurses, residents all seem like a big family overall and I’ve never had a bad experience coming to this facility.
I am currently a patient at the Gardens of Camp Hilll. The nursing staff is adequate but the aides are absolutely terrible. There are a few good ones but they are deffinetly overshadowed by the bad ones. The meals are a tragic prison served style mess especially for people that require a special diet that does not exist at this facility. I was told they could accommodate and had a diabetic meal lan and clear they do not. When you try to get the food you need to not make a problem for your blood sugar the aides yell and scream about your request. They never get it and you’re left with a high carbohydrate meal. The kitchen never fails reduces the additional items that they say are always available and ehat they do provide is not usually editable or even allowed to have of course the sides will not bring any of it to you. The building is very old and just maintained no imprivements. It reminds you of an old nursing home. The physical therapy has a decent staff but a woefully sad facility and equipment necessary. No money spent in this area. My advice is thoroughly investigate and check the cavity in person before deciding on which facility you chose. I wish I had!!!
