I’d like to extend my gratitude to Craig and Jennifer for letting me host a medium sized private business dinner. Craig was super responsive from the get go and helped me set up everything including a TV for my presentation. The food was delicious, especially the apple cake. The dining room is gorgeous!

What a wonderful stay! It is very comfortable, has great service, and has more amenities than I can get into here—though I do have pics. After a great night's sleep, I had one of the best Western omelets I've ever had, along with homemade strawberry turnovers, home fries, and a yogurt/berry parfait.
What an experience at the Essex Inn!!! We dropped our daughter at St Margaret school and we were looking for a finer place to stay. We were so lucky to find Essex Inn and Bed & Breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and a culinary masterpiece. The host were very, very nice people very accommodating and very welcomed. We would suggest the Essex Inn and all those in the area especially to a St Margaret’s family.
Greg and Jennifer are wonderful hosts. Their home is a gorgeous historical home. The 3 course breakfast that Greg prepares is amazing and so yummy! We stayed in a suite room and the bed was very comfortable. It was also so nice to connect with other guest that were staying there over breakfast. A huge added bonus for us with staying here is that they also own the restaurant 1710 Tavern which is directly across the street from the Essex Inn. This restaurant offers a fine dining experience and has INCREDIBLE food. It was so nice to just be able to walk across the street for dinner each night. Please consider staying at the Essex Inn and dinning at 1710 Tavern on your next trip-you will not be disappointed!
Lovely place with wonderful hosts! Jennifer and Greg are the perfect hosts: proud of the Essex Inn's history, creating a very open, warm atmosphere and serving the best possible 3 course breakfast in a great setting. Rooms are big and comfortable and the whole house has hidden gems from the porch (front / back / center), over the old butler room and the common sitting areas to the garden. the Rappahannock river is a 3 minute walk away and offers an amazing sunrise... Hosts have fantastic recommendations on what to do and where to go in the area. This is a fantastic place and highly recommended!
