I have worked at The Drake as an employee, and I want to share my concerns about the neglect, abandonment, and discrimination that occur in this facility. During my time there, the manger, Jolyn Salmond, threatened to fire me for what she labeled as abandonment, despite the fact that she and other staff members frequently left residents unattended. While I acknowledge that I might not have handled things perfectly, I informed her that there were no med techs or personal present to notify anyone of my departure. To protect myself, I reached out to Selima Robert’s regarding the situation that unfolded during my shift. This raises a significant question about who is truly abandoning the residents. There is much more to my experience, and I’ve chosen to escalate my complaint to corporate. For now, I simply want to raise awareness about what I witnessed while working at The Drake. I strongly urge you not to send your loved ones there, as the current residents are suffering from neglect, inadequate nourishment, and poor hygiene. The two mangers, Selima Robert’s and Jolyn Salmond, seem more focused on profits than the well-being of the residents. I would caution anyone considering doing business with them, particularly Jolyn, as she is known for her rude and unprofessional behavior in managing the facility.

I am a primary care provider that has started visiting this community to care for few of my patients that have recently moved here. I have had a great experience with the staff, care coordinators and executive director! Not only is the community beautiful but the staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. I travel to several assisted livings to provide primary care for residents and I must say that The Drake has been a breath of fresh air. 🩺Redella Hedrick, Nurse Practitioner
We toured several Assisted Living Facilities in the area and beyond. The Director, Jolyn, really sets the tone for entire team. They provide quality services and have an amazing group of caregivers. The PT team has my Mom working hard on strengthening exercises and techniques for improved mobility. It’s a great atmosphere, they always have activities led by a fun and engaging Activities Director, Shane! Instead of doors that swing open, there is a (sliding) barn door on the bathroom with floor to ceiling shelving and instead of a closet door, there is an armoire. It makes it easier to get in and out of spaces and reach what you need. For me a HUGE advantage and provides for more independence. To top that off, there is a lovely and safe and inviting courtyard. Highly recommend; Great Leadership, Great Care, Great Space, Great Value!
I toured the property during the Summer. The staff member who gave me the tour informed me that the manager was not in. She took my contact information. I asked if there was a waiting list. The staff member informed me that they didn't have a waiting list right now but they also didn't have any availability. She stated the manager would reach out to me. After not receiving a phone call, I called to follow up with the manager. I spoke with a staff member who transferred me to the manager's voicemail. I left a message. One time I called and the staff member said, the manager is in the office now and she will transfer my call. It went straight to voicemail. This pattern continued until I finally got in contact with the manager at the end of October! The manager informed me that there's a waiting list. She then asked for my information which I initially left when I toured during the Summer. There was no explanation of why my calls were never returned by her. Based off of my experience, I don't have any confidence that I will hear back from her.
I took a tour today with my husband and the facility is state of the art, immaculate and well maintained. We had a bit of a rough start with The Drake several weeks ago, however, our latest experience has been nothing but positive. I wanted to leave an updated review. The caregivers and staff are very friendly and you can tell they enjoy taking care of the elderly and they love the residents and their jobs. It truly showed today as we toured how much they go above and beyond for the residents. The Director is friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. We are glad we found this facility for our loved one.
