Courtyard Memory Care has been such a wonderful place for our mom. It was a hard decision to make the jump to Memory Care, but in retrospect, we should have moved her here sooner. We were hesitant in January because there were no Google reviews when she moved in. The care has surpassed our expectations in every way. After 4 months, mom is much more engaged, conversational and alert. Christine has found activities that mom can participate in, even with both hearing and sight challenges. The facility is beautiful and light. Staff members are kind and caring with smiles and conversation for all. They treat the residents with kindness, patience and respect for each person’s individual challenges. Mom has enjoyed the meals too. Fresh fruits and vegetables are served instead of “institutional” beans. It always smells good and looks appetizing at mealtime. It has been refreshing to talk to the directors in the rare instances that a small item isn’t quite right with mom’s care. They seem to view the discussion as a problem solving partnership in comparison to our experience at a prior facility where the answer was always, “We can’t do that.” At Courtyard memory care, their hearts are in the right place with caring and compassion for our mom.
I was contacted by a hiring manager for an interview. They contacted me via indeed so I'm not sure if it was a man or woman because it was the company's name. I told them the position I was interested in, and we scheduled an appointment for Tuesday. About an hour before the interview, I was contacted by the hiring manager, via indeed that they were sick and would not be able to do the interview that day. Instead, they offered to do the interview via phone for the following day. No one called. The next day, Thursday I reached out via indeed to see if we were still able to do the interview. Friday, they reached back out stating the position is filled. When I tried to ask for that person's name I was ignored.
Not ready to provide proper care. Beautiful facility, but multiple problems beneath the glossy surface. If they can get quality, professional staff and take care of some construction building flaws, it has promise. I evaluated Courtyard for my mother, who was unable to return to her independent living facility due to worsening health problems. Marketing manager, Karen is very friendly and good at recruiting residents, but I experienced some dishonesty about some issues the place was having. She was also dismissive of the nursing assistants, the very backbone of assisted living facilities. During that time, they had to let the RN supervisor go, leaving them understaffed and incapable of evaluating my mother for a couple weeks. The brand new facility had a water main leak, requiring the move of several residents to other rooms. One day before my mother’s furniture was to be moved into the unit, and three days before she was due to be discharged from Capitol Lakes rehab, she was declined as a resident due to her “heart problems”, although they were a higher level assisted living facility, and Capitol Lakes assured us that my mother met criteria for their facility. If Courtyard had been honest, they would have told us that they felt my mother was too much care for them. She did require a higher level of assistance. I see that they had to hire a new chef and meal prep person and a new administrator since then, as well.
Fantastic! They have gotten my brother's health under TOTAL control. He arrived ill, in a wheelchair after a severe break to his leg/hip. His health is MUCH improved with the care, high quality meals, regular administration of medications, and support from a caring staff. On-site physical therapy has him walking on his own within 3 months. The staff are very friendly, highly competent skilled professionals. The food is good and healthy. My brother completely enjoys interacting with them, and has become friends with the staff, and they joke/kid around with each other. The social interaction has greatly improved his mental health. I would highly recommend this team to care for your loved one.
