We moved my dad in several months ago. Trust me - the photos on their website DO NOT by any means reflect what the place is really like. They must be taken from a four-star resort or restaurant. Grilled steak with asparagus like that? Never happens. The food is mediocre at best. The activities are the same - every day, every month. So unless you play dominoes or bingo - not much else happening on a daily basis. Yes, they have occasional excursions - like drives around town which is better than nothing. The caregivers are hard to find. The whole place seems to be suffering a severe shortage of staff, no organization and few, if any, signs of improvement in the overall quality of care and life. I have heard rumors they are going bankrupt. Don't know if that is true - but would explain the downturn.

It is unfortunate that most of the 1 star ratings on here are of personal reasons/beliefs and do not reflect the quality of care, life and facility. Please take those reviews as what they are, personal, and not a reflection of the actual facility, employees, management and care provided. My loved one has lived in the facility for over a year and it has been fantastic for her. Without having her name badge on, the caregivers know her by name and are genuine in their concern and interactions with her. I've seen the same interactions between the staff and other residents. The facility is very well taken care of, bright, easy to access and inviting to all. The food is good to excellent. I feel comfortable and at ease that my loved one is living at The Commons. Her quality of life has greatly improved since moving in. I enjoy visiting her, she loves to have people come and visit her and dine with her. I have not had a negative interaction with any of the staff and I believe if I had management would address the issue. Update late 2024: My loved one was placed in hospice and eventually passed. While moving items out of the apartment before she passed many of the staff and residents stopped by to ask how she was doing. They shared stories and best wishes. Grateful for the time she spent here.
Rating a 3 due to the care from management and directors. The commons is an assisted living community only. From what I have experienced and seen they do very well on that side. If your family member is in need of memory care, please don’t subject them to that part of the commons. It is a locked unit with a small amount of help. The employees seem like they want to do a good job and care, but lack the support and staffing needed for that kind of care. The locked unit is not staffed for the needs of those residents and that’s not fair to them or the employees. I don’t have experience with the commons in the assisted living side and cannot comment on that side, but from the outside looking in on that there is more help and care. I am only reviewing the memory care experience.
My experience with The Commons goes back to 2013. First Mom became a resident, then Dad joined her there, and now it's just Dad since Mom's passing. The care that the residents receive is nothing short of amazing. The staff treats all of the residents with tremendous love, respect and compassion...it's more like a family than anything else. The entire staff is always very helpful when you have problems or questions with your loved one. They work very hard and I appreciate everything that they do. The facility is always kept clean and well maintained, inside and out. The vans used to transport the residents are kept in good running order, and the drivers keep their passengers safe and secure. During COVID19, management set up some very strict protocols which have kept the residents much safer and healthier than the general population. The food in the Dining Room can be a little hit and miss at times, but in general it is good. Dad complains that "they serve too many green vegetables", which just proves that some kids never do grow up. In general, I would say that if you are looking for a place where your loved one will be well taken care of, and where the staff really does have their best interest at heart, then you need to make a visit to The Commons.
I don't live here, I visit from time to time. It is very very clean. Great atmosphere. And oh my goodness the food is phenomenal. The fries ,are the best I have ever had in my life. I could only be so lucky to live here when the time comes. Everyone I came into contact with, was so nice, seemed to love their job. I guess looking at it it wasn't a job for them at all. They was just smiling, laughing like they was having fun. Great atmosphere from my prospective. Beautiful scenery as well. Flowers are very well taken care of . So very beautiful
