I was at Claiborne today, picking up my father-in-law. He reminded me once again that the quality of the food there is marginal unacceptable. Coincidentally as we were going toward the elevator, another resident joined us, and without any prompting said that she was going down to lunch, but she was dreading it because the food is so bad. I mentioned that we had talked to the director several times about the quality of the food. She said that talking with him was a waste of time because he didn’t do anything. I share this because it happens today and it’s firsthand information. For the almost 2 years my father-in-law has been there the poor quality of the food has been a constant theme. If you are a resident there or if you have loved ones there, I would encourage you to leave reviews, focusing on what needs to be improved. There are many positive things about the facility, but if the food qualities bad, the quality of living there is not going to be good I would especially encourage family members to check on their relatives there and if there are things like the food quality that are unsatisfactory to reach out to the corporate headquarters and let them know. My guess is that the corporation wants to provide superior care. These comments are relative to the Claiborne in Newnan Georgia.

I toured The Claiborne. From the moment I entered the community, I was warmly greeted. The facility and apartments are lovely. There are many activities both onsite and offsite for the residents to choose. My questions were throughly answered and Emily provided outstanding customer care and service. The staff put residents first and clearly knew the individuals. Emily and the staff left a great first impression showing empathy, knowledge of seniors and their specific needs and interests; and recognizing the challenges faced in any aging population. The tour was great with outstanding support, service and information provided.
An elderly family member (FM) was taken to the ER at Kennestone Hospital. FM was then admitted to the Hospital for observation for a few days. I was listed as one of their Emergency Contacts. Over the course of their stay it was strongly SUGGESTED that FM follow up with physical therapy and extended care. FM said that they would and that they have their own primary Dr. will be setting this up with them. The Hospital rep tried multiple times to get FM to allow the Hospital to set it up for FM. FM did NOT want this. Fast forward a few days later. I am now receiving a flood of unsolicited phone calls and texts from this and many other regional senior living corporations and local "assisted living" providers. This company sent me a text saying "Hello [FM Other Emergency Contact] (yes, they even mixed up the contacts). Thank you for touring The Claiborne!" They included a link to further solicit private contact and health information. These are extremely shady business practice and should be reported to the appropriate regulatory authorities. A reminder for anyone reading. Please look after and be vigilant with your elderly & vulnerable family & community members. There are many predatory companies our there.
Let me state that this is the cleanest senior facility I have toured. I visited a few senior communities here in Newnan and Peachtree city, and there has always been a weird smell, but not here. I met with the director Jeremiah Cofer, and you can tell he takes great pride in this facility. He seemed to know every residents name as well as every staff member. His spirit seemed so genuine and kind, and I felt like I have known him for years. He was able to answer a lot of the questions I prepared before I even had the chance to ask them. The tour was personalized and I felt like my parents would be safe and feel right at home under his supervision. Mr. Cofer took the time to explain every detail of the daily living experience and made sure we left satisfied and with a clear understanding. My dad suffers from early onset dementia and he was able to explain how the staff cares for their residents and how they provide day to day care that is tailored to my father’s needs. I began to tear up a little and unexpectedly, Mr. Cofer gave me a hug and assured me everything would be ok. Now having toured many facilities in the past few weeks, I have always felt that they were just telling me what I wanted to hear, just to get my business and to fill a space, but not here. I can’t explain it, but I could just tell he meant everything he said. He made my family and I feel and confirm that this is the best choice for us. Thank you so much, for meeting with us. Thank you to the resident whom we spoke to in the parking lot who said since he has been here, this is the best the facility has ever been and she loves her life there. Let me also thank the other staff members we met as well, they were AWESOME!
As an employee the Claiborne at Newnan Lakes is a wonderful place to be. The atmosphere is full of genuine love and everyone’s heart is in the right place and wants to serve everyone they can. There’s no better work atmosphere and there’s no better loving environment for seniors to be in and be apart of. I love it here!
