My dad has been a resident at the Cascades for many years and my family is so pleased with his ALF choice. He gets great care when needed, delicious gourmet meals, transportation to appointments and fulfilling recreation activities. It’s a very family centered facility. Staff is friendly and so helpful. Kitchen staff and chef always prepare and serve wonderful meals. Laundry and room cleaning services are top notch and always delivered with a smile. Nursing staff is on top of all his needs should something arise. Aides that work there are super friendly and committed to being a presence in the resident’s lives. It’s such a welcome relief to know that dad has landed in the best place for him to thrive.

I can't say enough about The Cascades Assisted Living, and recommend this to anyone considering assisted living. The care that my father receives has been exceptional, and the Director of Nursing came in on her day off, because my father was moving in that day. Some of his aides have been there for 10 or 20 years and they treat him with incredible care, respect and encouragement. He is feeling better and is more engaged than he has been in years because of the excellent and personal care at The Cascades. I work in hospice and have seen numerous facilities and The Cascades is one of the best!
The Cascades is a Hidden Gem in Bethel CT. It is a small Independent and Assisted Living community. The residents are happy and long lived. The community is clean and the food is excellent, fresh and locally sourced. Great dedicated staff.
My journey to misery with Cascades began in early 2023 when I was recommended through colleagues of mine (I'm a funeral director so I work closely with facilities such as this) to speak to JaKeith (who was the executive director at the time) about possibly getting my Mom placed there. I spoke to JaKeith on many occasions, and was very upfront about my Mom's mental/financial status, before flying my Mom out from Las Vegas to get a tour and take serious next steps. On 3/15/23 my Mom and I met with JaKeith at Cascades and he was nothing but reassuring while giving us a tour and showing us the available rooms. The next step was to meet with Maureen for an evaluation and we were ready for an April 1 move in date...if only I'd known then that this whole process was a JOKE... The evaluation ended with Maureen and JaKeith continuing to reassure me that all the needed was a medical evaluation from my mother's primary care DR stating that her conditions were chronic and stable. So my Mom had to fly back to Vegas where she already cancelled a lot of her stuff with the assumption she'd be moving to CT soon. We got the forms completed and I then tried to contact the team again. On 3/23 I called and HEARD Maureen on the other end decline my call before the nurse told me she was 'in a meeting and would call me right back' Sent an email on 3/31 with all my disappointments - no response Left ANOTHER voicemail for Maureen 4/5 and emailed her the forms - no response sent ANOTHER email 4/10 - no response Left ANOTHER voicemail 4/14 - no response Called AGAIN and asked the receptionist Nicolette to put a hand written note on Maureen's desk to call me - no response Called AGAIN yesterday, 4/19 - spoke to Kay, who I presume may be a partner of Maureens - this time I broke down on the phone crying explaining to Kay all I'd been through and that I just needed an answer so we could move forward. STILL NO RESPONSE!!! I am completely disgusted and disheartened with the lack of care and compassion from this team - namely Maureen. They should be ashamed of themselves and I hope this review can help someone else avoid this whole drama that I've been through. If someone somewhere reads this from Cascades and can reach out - I am still very willing to have a conversation to express my feelings. Meanwhile, my Mom is still in Las Vegas in need of care just waiting...
Thank you for taking care of my Uncle!
