I have visited a family member on several occasions and found the facility clean and the staff friendly and efficient. Although it could use some updating, the rooms were bright and a good size. Also, the food is fresh and delicious.

My mother in law was recently a patient at Brentwood. She was not an easy patient…but the staff there treated her with such care and dignity. The communication from Tracie, our case manager, was flawless! Every request or concern we had was addressed immediately. The facility was super clean and they even have her a proper haircut! I can’t thank you all enough for helping her to be well enough to come home.
If I could give a negative review I certainly would. The ONLY reason we chose this place for my mom was due to on sight dialysis and thought it would be so much easier for her, boy were we wrong! So many incidents in such a short period of time! Nurses sleeping at the desk. No staff on the unit for about an hour and a half. My poor mother not being able to eat her meals and nobody checking to whether she ate or not and not caring if she did or not! She had a wound on her heel and her rear and every single time I was there her heels were resting on the bed and I had to keep putting a pillow under her calf to keep it elevated. I spoke to her nurse and was assured it was being addressed. She was also being left in her depends way too long! The worse was yet to come. My sister and I were visiting on a Thursday, and when I walked in my mom kept saying she wasn't feeling right, and we watched her pick up the remote for the TV and start eating it. Followed by her picking up the bed remote and start blowing her nose with it. We were floored! We immediately went to the nurses desk to say that there was something wrong. They called the ambulance assuming she was having a stroke, BUT when she got to the Beverly ER, she had a temp of 105, and her BP was sky high. My mother was septic from a urinary tract infection that had resulted in her also getting an infection in her bladder and kidney! She was immediately sent to Lahey Burlington where the doctors told us what was happening and that my mom was very very sick. How could they allow this to happen?? How did they not know that my mom had a temp that high?? Because I am sure they never checked her vitals because if they had they would have known. My mother has spent a week in the ICU trying to heal from all of the neglect that Brentwood caused her. I will never recommend this place and my mother will NEVER EVER return. Disgusted beyond words.
If I could leave negative stars, that is how I would rate this facility. My grandmother suffered immensely during her stay here. To start on the litany of issues we experienced, there were food restrictions listed on the menus submitted for each meal-each meal there was something provided that she couldn't or did not want to eat. We were notified that she was refusing meals and indicating that she was "losing the will to live". I was with her for a meal and they brought her food that AGAIN she could not eat and did not want-these were listed on the menus left with the food trays. When she mentioned to the nurse, he cut the piece off and said "you can eat this since it wasn't touching the other pieces". She began to cry because she was so hungry. and all she wanted was something with NO GRAVY. They argued with her instead of getting her a new plate-I stepped in and asked them to please get her some new food, she's very hungry. As time went on, the doctor had decided it was time to invoke the medical proxy-the doctor never notified the medical proxy when this happened, and the proxy found out in an email from hospice. I had called to speak with the nurse director, and was told it was an "oversight and miscommunication". UNACCEPTABLE. The social worker and nurse director assured me they would speak to the staff and provided direct extensions should I have any other concerns. WHAT A JOKE. 2 days later, I had gone for a visit and she was unresponsive in a zombie like state. I asked the nurse on duty for help, and she indicated to me that the day nurse "left a note that she had entered the phase of agonal breathing". I'm not a doctor and had no idea what they were talking about. I asked why the proxy and no family member was notified-"no one called you? They should have notified you". I called each direct line provided by the social worker and nurse director multiple times and left messages and to this day, still have not received a return phone call. I demanded to speak to a supervisor or someone in charge-they agreed that this was unacceptable, and I informed them I would be calling the compliance line. I tried following up with the social worker and nurse director again, but no one bothered to call back. When at the facility, I requested to speak with the nurse director in person: after multiple pages to the area I was waiting, they had sent someone else in her place. I could go on for pages about all the other issues noted (flies in room and landing on the food that she couldn't eat anyway, dirty bandages and medical gloves on the floor, filthy curtains separating the roommates beds) She had a roommate pass away in the same room that she eventually passed, and their family communicated to me they saw various issues as well, and were appalled by this facility. Pictures were taken to note these issues and the family has contacted the state. I hope for the sake of someone else's loved ones, something is done about the broken healthcare system and patient care.
Horrific care!! Residents are ignored, bare minimum rehab. Glorified diaper changers and even that's after hours of being soiled. BEWARE!! ( If I could give a zero.. I would ) 😡by the way, my mother's room had rotting walls and complete with roach motels. How this is legal is beyond me!!!
