The Blake is an incredible senior living facility. From our first visit looking for a place for my Mom , we felt welcomed and supported! The tour itself was amazing. We visited both the assisted living and memory care units , were invited to enjoy a meal , saw residents actively engaged in activities and met genuinely caring staff . The facility itself is beautiful, the included amenities are impressive , but it’s the leadership , the caring staff at every level , who are responsive to our needs as a family and most of all to the needs of my Mom that won us over!! Every single interaction I have had at The Blake has been positive ! They care about the needs of all their residents … and to see my Mom flourish in a perfectly suited community for her has been wonderful . She has met new friends , enjoys dining with others , and is participating in Blake activities with a new found confidence and joy!

It's only been one week, but so far my mom likes her new home! Update after two months... Mom is still enjoying the Blake, making friends over daily dining and some activities. The place is clean and pleasant. She loves getting her her and nails done in the salon! Biggest complaint is staffing issues, particularly on weekends. I have addressed this with management. I'm taking my review down to 3 stars from five because of these staffing issues. My mom was left on the floor one Saturday for almost an hour before being assisted. Management has dealt with the training issues for staff, so fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
We recently moved our 91 yr old parents from AZ to The Blake at Edgewater. From the start I knew that I wanted our parents here. Working with Sales has been a great experience-he’s very kind, knowledgeable & caring. All the people at The Blake went above & beyond with getting my parents moved in & settled. Every single person has been terrific, so warm & truly caring. Exceptional! And the food is fantastic!
0/5 Memory Care specific review. Do Not put your loved one here. I do not believe Management cares and most of the staff lack compassion and care. There are a couple of staff members who were good, but the majority should not be taking care of people who are in a vulnerable state. If your love one can’t feed themselves and are not ambulatory this is not the place for you. You need to be self-sufficient to thrive at The Blake!
I’d give 0/5 if that was an option. Memory care specific review as I have no experience in assisted living. A month and a half ago I moved my grandfather into memory care. Within ONE week of living there, they over medicated him (without even making me aware of his change in medication) to the point where it looked like he was having stroke symptoms. The staff said he just “needed a nap” and wanted to put him in his bed. Thank goodness I was there to see this situation or who knows what would have happened to him. He ended up hospitalized for almost two weeks to get all the medication out of his system. After returning, they complained that he was being aggressive and required me to have him a 24/7 sitter with him or they’d send him to the ER. 2 weeks of 24/7 care @ 34/hour on top of his monthly cost of living there. You do the math. They just didn’t want him here anymore. The staff and management here is AWFUL. They have no experience with dementia and treat all residents as they are a child. They yell at them, demand them to do things, and have no idea how to redirect. These people deserve to be treated like human beings and that is NOT the care they give. The management doesn’t care at all - after they over medicated him gave me a “sales pitch” to keep him there (or maybe just to not report them) so that they could “prove they care.” Ha! No proof shown.. ever. There’s one person there that shows care - the regional nurse Noah. Without him, our last two weeks there while trying to find him a new home would have been even more hell than it was. He’s been training new staff so I hope for everyone there, that it works. Don’t put your loved one here. My grandfather is in a new facility now and he’s THRIVING. No behavioral issues. Why? Because the staff at his new place cares!
