From the moment I walked into The Blake in Charlottesville, I am greeted by the friendly and always helpful front desk staff! It also offers a visually appealing environment that enhances the living experience for its residents! I work closely with Amanda Burke who is always a pleasure to work with when co-hosting events, or simply giving a tour. Saying that Amanda, as well as The Blake, are amazing is honestly an understatement! I highly recommend!!!
My family greatly appreciates the care our father gets at The Blake. He enjoys the various activities, but especially Bingo. An added bonus recently is a group of high school students have been helping out on the weekends, which only adds to the fun.
My mom moved into assisted living about two weeks ago and is absolutely thriving. When living on her own, she was terribly depressed and self-isolating. Her physical and mental conditions had deteriorated significantly. At The Blake, she is going to meals, making friends, participating in activities, and forming relationships with the wonderful staff. They manage all her meds, help with cleaning and laundry, and encourage her to participate in activities. The Assistant Director of Wellness Amanda Richardson has spent about 2 hours with her, helping manage her healthcare and get appointments scheduled. She feels very comfortable and confident with Amanda helping to manage her care. Amanda Burke the Sales Director was tremendously helpful in getting her into an apartment and even lending some furniture until we can get Mom's own furniture in. She was clear about the services and costs and made sure Mom could transition to The Blake from the rehab facility where she had been ASAP. Mom was originally extremely hesitant about moving into any assisted living facility but now says she loves it there and that she feels much more secure and happier. She's even become a bit of an ambassador, welcoming new residents and offering to talk to them if they're feeling anxious about being there. I look forward to Mom having many good years there with an excellent quality of life.
I stopped by to see if they were playing canasta today. It has a very nice atmosphere and th people there seem happy. I live in Linden House and d it is also a nice place to live and has a great caring. Not as upscale as the Barclays. Probably a bit more affordable.
