This review needs to be updated, as the facility has sold once again! Wow, the third time in three years. Really makes you wonder what is going on with the facility. Despite QSL/“The Barclay” assuming responsibility October 15th, they have yet to show much of their faces. Staff remains chronically under supported, and it shows in their attitudes. The same problems persist—still no contingency plans for staff call-outs, so residents suffer. It’s worth noting that many of the reviews for Elance/Retirement Unlimited Incorporated(and now The Barclay) are coming from their own employees, casting doubt on their credibility. Including former Executive Directors! Which is laughable since they’ve gone through…seven? In a mere three years? Anyway, just a bad look in general, when you force employees to write reviews. The transition from Anthology to Elance to The Barclay has been extremely chaotic, resulting in a significant departure of staff. No one would even know that it is not Elance anymore, as they have made zero changes or upgrades. Unfortunately, resident care still appears to be secondary to superficial priorities, such as installing a red carpet and resorting to baking bread only during scheduled tours to mask odors. The lack of contingency plans for simultaneous employee absences is concerning, especially when it comes to providing adequate care for residents. Half of the “gourmet food” served is chili dogs and pizza. They have also downgraded food distributors from Sysco to US Foods. They have not had a reliable hairstylist in nearly a year. Exercise caution when considering this facility for loved ones with care needs as it currently, and what is becoming consistently, falls short of expectations.

I am so appreciative of their caring and attentive staff that are so nice to me every time I visit, but most importantly, wonderful to my father over the last year and some months he’s been there. When I go back next weekend, I’m going to jot down the names of those staff that definitely need a shout out and post another review through my husband’s account :-). As any new organization, there have been management changes, and the corporation is working hard to improve any loopholes. I even noticed my dad’s room has been cleaned better lately and they’re keeping the door shut because he’s in memory care and residents are able to walk down the hall and get exercise which is great but some of them wandered into his toilet, and my dad doesn’t even use his… But that has been remedied. Thank you housekeeping for doing a great job cleaning my dads room… Don’t forget the toilet :-). We pay for them to do my fathers laundry, and that’s been kept up a little more organized lately… Thank you! Keep up the good work, and I know you all will keep striving to improve… As I think, even the food could be a little better, but we’re very appreciative of everything and I know you’re working on that too! These workers deserve a special place in heaven ❤️💥
I have had the pleasure of visiting Elance at Tuckahoe many times over the past several months. They have made the process for our clients incredibly smooth and painless during their transition into their community. Between the community events to engage with their residents and their communication with my team, Christy and her team have been amazing for our clients and our company.
This was my first visit. The signage for Barclay was not visible from Parham Rd. I was a bit confused as to where you were until I saw a van with Barclay on it. You need to hang a temporary cover with your name on the brick name of Elanze (sp)
A beautiful and modern facility in a convenient West End location in Richmond. We are so delighted to have found the perfect community for my mother where she is living her best life! All the staff and the residents, have been extremely welcoming. Christy, Director of Sales and Community Relations is the absolute best. She was compassionate and professional, and went out of her way to help walk us through the whole process of making the transition. Our family is so grateful, and we highly recommend this property for your loved ones!
