4801 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43213, United States
We do not recommend Ashford on Broad. Having had a family member reside there for 12 months, we believe your money would be much better spent at a different assisted living facility. While there were a few very good people working there, they were far outnumbered by people who seemed to be unfriendly and uncaring toward their job and the residents. In general, there was a lot of employee turnover among the aides and dining room staff. Some days the doors to the dining room opened 30+ minutes late with the residents gathered around waiting to be let inside. Our family member’s room was rarely well cleaned, things were stolen, keys were taken and mysteriously returned a few days later. Often after requesting an aide’s help, there would be long delays before an aide arrived. Sometimes the wash was not returned for 2 days, the bed was not made and once our family member slept in a bed without sheets. Management continued withdrawing the monthly rent 3 days after our family member passed away. We pursued this with numerous calls and emails, some of which were unanswered, others promised things that never happened. The excuse was a systems issue (that lasted months). A complaint letter to corporate parent, Wallick Communities, generated a response two weeks later. In total, it took over 3.5 months to get money returned that should have never been taken from our account. Within the last 6 months, there was a Director of Nursing hired who was trying to make some positive changes. For the resident’s sake, we hope she was successful.

Stay far away from this place. The older front lady is always rude and has an attitude when you ask questions. The hallways always stink because they’re short staffed and rooms are barely getting cleaned. It’s been employee and residence fights, racist comments and older people not being checked up on regularly. They’re trying to take all of their money and leave them with nothing in their pockets. No landlines so they need a cellular device, but how if the community is taking all of their money?? If you have a conversation with a staff please make sure you record because they love to lie about a situation. There was a lady that called and stated they wasn’t suppose to discharge my father and they did. Please go and find BETTER!!
Awesome Resident! Wonderful Staff! There is always plenty to do in this beautiful building! 1/31/2020 Still just as happy as I was a year ago! The Ashford on Broad is the perfect place for most seniors that want to stay active and involved in the community. The community bus takes the residents shopping at least once a week. They also go out to hear music, see shows, eat lunch and take part in programs offered at the Whitehall Senior Center and Whitehall Parks and Rec. There are activities within the community like bingo, exercise and crafts to keep mom busy. When mom does not want to be involved she has a nice apartment with most of her favorite things for her home. She never has to eat alone and I like knowing that she is not just opening a can of soup and only eat that. The food is very good and a nice variety. At this point, my mother is not using the nursing services that are offered. I feel good knowing that when she does need help the staff will already know her and she will be comfortable with the friendly staff.
As a referral agency who recently introduced a new placement to the Ashford on Broad community, I continue to be impressed with the leadership staff as well as their nursing staff. They do an outstanding job at welcoming new residents. A "shout out" to Renee and her team for their thoroughness, patience, and overall gentle manner in how they welcomed my new resident into the community during her initial assessment.
From the day I first walked into "The Ashford on Broad", I have been extremely pleased with the smiling faces of the staff, the clean & refreshing environment, and the level of care that my mother has received since becoming a resident. One of the things that I love the best are the wonderful activities that are planned each day for the residents. My mom thanks me constantly for finding her new home, and for me, her comfort and happiness are what's most important. Thank you "Ashford on Broad" for taking excellent care of my mother, and giving me complete "peace of mind" knowing she is in such a wonderful, caring environment!
