I visited this assisted living center with my grandma and family and everything was beautiful except that from the first time we arrived the director lied to us about having spanish speaking people living in the center. There was not even one person who fluently spoke spanish at the center. After the evaluation, the workers and director offered to help us to find a different center for my grandma and after we left they didn’t even help us at all. Overall this perfect appearance of this place is truly deceitful and they make promises they cannot even go through with. Would truly not recommend ever visiting or going to this assisted living facility for anyone looking to place their elderly family members in a home. The appearance is only a facade and there is little diversity in the population as well.

My step mother moved into Arbors about 2 months ago. I worked for many years in various healthcare settings. One of the best indicators of a good place is easy to read in the faces and disposition of the employees. You have to watch reactions and interactions between the staff members. Administration should be comfortable talking to whole staff. A happy staff makes a happy environment for the residents. The staff at the arbors all seem happy. They work together and seem to genuinely care about the residents. When transitioning to a new place there is always a learning curve for the resident and staff to find the best way to help them and keep them happy and engaged. Every “ hiccup “ along the way was met with a true desire to come up with a solution. Food is generally the biggest institutional complaint. They have many choices to accommodate everyone and an excellent chef and dining room staff. Recreation has a big staff and try’s to find something for everyone. They are willing to start new programs and work to encourage everyone to participate. They are across the street from an elementary school that joins them in activities. I’m adding a few pictures of their recent community carnival. They had games, MrSoftee, bbq, petting zoo, pony rides and music. It was open to the community. A nice way to get to know your neighbors. Feel free to contact me with questions.
Choosing The Arbors at Bohemia was the best decision we made. It is bright, cheerful and welcoming. They run many programs and events not only for the residents but for family members as well. All seem to truly enjoy them. But what makes this place truly stand out are the people. They can not do enough for the residents or the family members. This attitude starts with the upper management and is reflected in the entire staff. You are not just a "number" there, but you are an individual. If you have any concerns or needs, they are addressed promptly and with a smile! If you are considering assisted living you should consider The Arbors at Bohemia.
Furious!! When I was there visiting a family member, I was shocked by the way a manager speaks to his staff. I found out the name is Xavier Haynes. I overheard this on several occasions just that one day. I can only imagine how he treats seniors living in this location. If he does not want to be kind and have compassion this is probably not the job for him. There was one chef that I saw him talking to like that, she was probably the age of his mother. He should be ashamed. To me he seemed lazy and was just barking orders. I will be checking in with my family to make sure they have no encounters with him.
I love the staff here, the place is so nice and welcoming, they are very detailed and attentative to their seniors, so glad my loved one is here And I know she is being taken care of!
