Having seen memory care units at other facilities I was terrified to even take a tour of Magnolia Trails Memory Care unit at The Addison of Florence. Even though I knew my mother-in-law needed memory care services I still thought we could make Assisted Living work for her. April was extremely tuned in to my needs and my fears and was patient. I finally agreed to just take a look at Magnolia Trails and I was shocked! I couldn't believe how awesome the unit was designed, the activities, hydration bar and the staff is actually trained to care for residents in memory care. Care is personalized to each resident. After just a week there is such a change in how much happier my mother-in-law is. Everyone tried to prepare us for a period of adjustment but there hasn't been one. I think it's because of the great Staff and how they have made such an effort to make everything better and special for her. The Staff really works to add things back to her life that are important to her. Someone takes time to read scriptures to her everyday (because she has lost her ability to read herself), they have devotion every morning, they listen to gospel music which she loves. The residents are so kind and loving and they just welcomed my mother-in-law. Such a beautiful loving place. There are so many things that I could say. I am so thankful that I overcame my fear and toured Magnolia Trails.

Amazing staffer had residents singing familiar hymns immediately following dinner. A lady who sat across from my aunt, whom I was visiting, didn't utter a sound for the whole 45 minutes I was there, till the singing started. Was I ever surprised to hear her joyfully singing along. From a blank stare to clapping her hands and bobbing her head. A man who had initially refused dinner, was also singing along in harmony. I loved it, and I found myself singing along, as well.
This is an amazing community. The activities, food, and care are great. The Magnolia Trails program sets the bar for any memory care in the area. Great and caring team.
I am sitting here with some of the residence. Everyone is commenting on how bad the food is! The cream of chicken soup had no chicken. The residents say the food has gotten worse with new owners. People in assisted living deserve home cooked meals. It will may them live longer...and keep owners in business. So I will come visit again and let you know if you have improved the quality of the food!
I enjoy the new management team, I think change is good. Some people just stuck in their ways but honestly.Benton house did not have structure and this new company is setting standards.
