1020 Harmony Hills Dr, Franklin, TN 37064, United States
Hopefully this review will help other when making a decision where to place their loved ones. This facility has in a state of changes/turmoil since it opened a few years ago. The owners of the building live locally but the Assisted Living business was being run by a person who mismanaged it and it went into a Court Ordered Receivership as a result (June 2023). When I moved my father in, I was not told of the financial issues but 4 months later the families received letters notifying us that to avoid bankruptcy, Symphony was under a court appointed receivership. After that, there was a constant rotation of managers and staff each promising to make things better.. Things would get better for a few weeks then that manager would be gone and we'd be back to square one. The building was put up for sale on Zillow in late 2023 to the surprise of the families with no prior notification so obviously we were all concerned that it would be sold or go out of business so there was a constant worry although management would assure us that things were fine, but they weren't transparent and forthcoming with information. The next thing that happened was there was a notification in the local newspaper (Williamson Herald) that the internal furnishings and all equipment were up for auction to the highest bidder (July 2024). Families of course found out and again were surprised and wondered what was going on we weren't told ahead of time. Finally, after the residents and families demanded to know what was going on, the owners held a meeting with the families in conjunction with a representative from Distinctive and their attorney to address all of the concerns of the families and residents. During the meeting, they told us that their husbands built the building but passed away.. and while they owned the building, they were not experienced in running an Assisted Living business, so they were bringing in a management company, Distinctive Assisted Living to hopefully bring in new residents and make it a successful business. They discussed how they were going to change the name from Symphony to the Harpeth at Harmony Hills to start fresh...I suppose because if you google Symphony is Franklin you will see the court ordered receivership, the auction notice, the fact that the building was up for sale, etc.....so they felt this would hurt their marketing efforts to get new residents in, because occupancy was very low. The current ED, Lisa, took over in April 2024 and things really started going down hill. Some of the good caregivers left or were fired by her and she brought in her own people from a previous place she managed and her close friends or family members. She hired her son's girlfriend as the Director of Nursing and many of the nurses that were there from the beginning when the property opened or had been there for a while and stayed through all the other ups and downs left. That really hurt the quality of care because through all of the turnover, there were some good nurses that cared and I felt comfortable knowing they were there but then they were gone and there was a constant turn over in nursing staff. Distinctive, the management company took over in Oct 2024 and many of the families reached out to speak with them and share our concerns about Lisa and all the issues, but they didn't return calls or didn't seem to care, so really you're just left to deal with Lisa and unfortunately and she will tell you what you want to hear but doesn't follow through. It's unfortunate because the building is pretty new and nice but the management has been poor. There are other better options in the area to place your loved ones.
