This place was a blessing to my family during my mother's last few weeks of her life. They treated her very well and did everything they could to keep her comfortable. She liked all of the nurses and CNA's that worked with her and my brother and I are very thankful to everyone at Applewood for the great care she received while there. Today’s visit was very pleasant. Much of that has to do with seeing my mom out in the dining area socializing with some of the other ladies. I still can’t get over the fact that you have low toilets and bathtubs in the rooms though. I can’t imagine any of your patients having the ability to get into a bathtub to take a bath or shower. Furthermore low, old school toilets are just as ridiculous. A suitable chair in her room would be good for her when not in bed or for visitors she may. The size and condition of the chair in her room is not what I would expect from a facility such as yours.
The nurses and aids seemed nice but my father received his lunch about 25 minutes late. On top of it being late, it was literally ice cold rice, ice cold pork roast and ice cold peas. They deserve a warm meal. They need to find a better system for meals such as dividing the home into 4 sections. Lunch for section 1 is at 11:00, section 2 11:15, section 3 11:30 and section 4 12:00. Plate and serve in 15 minute intervals and everyone would get the warm meal that they deserve. Do better!
My family and I are so very happy with this facility! They take great care of my Dad. They go beyond their way with him and we are so very greatful! Also, the building is always clean and the staff is so attentive! I definitely recommend Applewood for your love one!! Thank you for all that you do for my Dad!! All your work and efforts are greatly appreciated!!
Exceptional RNs under appreciated as well as a few, very few CNAs that one can count on as of recent. Many experienced CNAs are run to death some days. Not sure any have a blessed odor, most days I avoid post meal hallways. No place for people outdoors OUT OF THE SUNLIGHT which is shocking. I wish it were better but it feels like folks don't consider the humans that need them, their help quite badly. I can hope 🙏 for the weather changes cheering up things a bit. Why don't any volunteers from Universities or students coming to just read to folks these days? I liked that quite a lot in another city once. Again I'm just hanging on hope.
