Had the pleasure of touring this building at a networking event recently. What a beautiful place! Very clean with plenty of extra spaces for residents to socialize and their memory care unit is superb with a lovely courtyard! The staff were also very friendly and open to accommodating tours of the building.
We wanted to keep my mom at home for as long as possible. It was incredibly hard to find a place for her when I could no longer care for her myself. We wanted something that was nice and clean, cheerful and most of all, where she would receive the kind of care I had been giving her. I knew the minute I walked into Aspired Living that we'd found her home. She loved it as much as I did. The building is spotless and very modern, the food is good, the activities are great, but most of all the residents are incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff is amazing and kind, not to mention highly competent. I never doubted that the care she was getting was the best possible. And although it was an adjustment for her not to be at home with us, she felt so welcomed and spoiled there. She was worried I was being extravagant, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. The place is just such a great value. Her accommodations were lovely and her care was excellent. I couldn't have asked for anything more for her.
Please run. This place was absolutely horrible to my mom. She lived here for almost a year in memory care and it was a horrible experience. After having ‘aggressive behaviors’ my mom was sent to different hospitals 5 times over the course of a month each time with the ER having nothing but kind things to say about how pleasant she was. I know dementia can be challenging but for being a memory care unit, the staff here have NO experience or training on how to properly care for someone with dementia. A majority of the staff can barely speak English; that’s definitely great for someone with dementia 😣. I was getting phone calls daily to tell me I needed to come and get her because she was ‘stomping around aggressively’. If I wasn’t able to, she would be sent to an ER. This then spun into the facility illegally telling me I couldn’t refuse a transfer for her to a hospital (I am her POA) over an hour away on the south side of Chicago. After telling the nurse I refused, he lied to me and told me my mom had already left. I quickly verified that she had not left by checking her bedroom camera and saw her asleep in her bed. After yet another hospital refused to admit her (because nothing was wrong with her) they then told me I had to pay for a 1:1 caregiver to be with her 24/7. I told them I refused and once again was told I wasn’t allowed to. I then checked her nanny cam and saw a caregiver stay with her for less than 3 hours and then disappear. Yet another lie of a service they were providing they didn’t actually exist. After another send out I ended up begging an ER to admit her so I could have time to find a new facility since it was clear Aspired was attempting to kick my mom out illegally, without finding her a new place to live as is the law. During all of this the facility made numerous medication changes. I eventually received a phone call from a provider at the facility telling me that what was being done was extremely unfair and dangerous to my mom. They expressed that they had never had problems like this at other memory care facilities and emphasized that I should move my mother for her safety due to the facilities inability to care for my mother appropriately. My mother has since moved on and is being well cared for elsewhere and has had no issues with ‘aggressive behaviors’. For anyone with dementia. This is NOT the place for you.
I love living here. Very friendly residents and helpful staff. Lots of activities. Very comfortable and bright rooms!
